1.0 out of 5 stars Worst Clippers EVER!
I have used the Oster A5, 2 speed clippers now for over ten years on my Standard Poodle. While I do not like that they require maintaince, I have never done anything to them and they still ran great. I recently moved and could not find my Osters. I had to groom my dog, and I've heard a lot about Andis clippers, so I thought I'd give these a try. These clippers were SO...

(thats really good) I highly recomend them for people that like to groom their dogs at home. you will never have to buy another clipper! they do get hot after about 20 min of constant use, just put the blade on something cool or buy the cooling spray. also for very matted dogs becareful and only use the number 10 blade it is less likely you will cut the dogs skin with the 10. If you are looking for a short smooth look use the number 7 or 5 blade backwards (agaist the growth of the dog fur...butt to head) the 40 blade cuts really short we mostly use to do poodle feet and pads of any breed of dogs. If your blades get dull you can find a sharpening guy in your area. they usually charge 5 a blade

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW! This trimmer tackles the BIG jobs!, March 9, 2008
Looking for a clipper that you can use to groom your dog? Want something dependable? A clipper that won't heat up? That will get through thick hair? Then this is the clipper for you?
I have a Portuguese Water Dog. I have never seen a dog's hair grow so fast. Every six weeks, she needs a trim and if I let it go for 8 weeks, I can barely find her under all that hair. All the trips to the groomer were tedious, so I decided to give grooming a try. At first I was uneducated an bought a trimmer at one of the big box pet stores. I used it a couple of times and then it just stopped cutting smoothly.
I dug down deep and bought this Andis Super 2 and the rest is history. The cut is even and the motor is strong. It is relatively quiet, so the dog isn't jumpy. Because I can change blades in a flash, I can do her belly nice and tight, and her leave her body hair longer. After only a couple of uses, I have the confidence to do her ears (inside and out) and the underside of her paws.
This is a great machine and a great investment! Buy one, you won't be disappointed!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great clipper for tough jobs, September 13, 2009
I've been using Andis AG2 for years, and they handle the TOUGHEST jobs. I have 3 dogs, a Miniature Schnauzer, Great Pyrenees, and a mixed English Sheepdog-Irish Wolfhound who is VERY wooly. The clippers breeze through their hair. It does tend to get hot. I keep Marvel Mystery oil and Oster blade spray handy while grooming.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Product, November 4, 2008
I bought this becauce got tired of paying the pet groomers to shave my cat every two or three months and it really needed to be done every month or so. My cat (Rosie) really hated going out and she is a good cat. I decided to start shaving her myself. After much research tried this one. I am happy I did. This thing really cuts the fur like a hot knife to butter!!! If you are going as short as I do, you do not need any attachments. The ONLY bad thing about this (and this is for most clippers from what I read) is it gets hot. keep your eye on how hot it can get not to burn pet. When too hot, let cool down a bit by placing the silver back part on a frozen ice chest brick. It works wonders to get it cooled down quick!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Smooth and quiet, September 23, 2011

Used it twice now and appreciate how it works, both smooth and quiet. Blade got warm but not hot. Previous clipper was also Andis bought from Petsmart for about $60. That cut well until the blades got dull and I learned that they could not be sharpened, nor could the clipper be repaired (made in China). The two speed is quieter with less vibration and the blades are sold in many places as well as being able to be sharpened. It is USA made. It also has a longer cord. I appreciate the quality.

5.0 out of 5 stars great tool, August 30, 2010

This review is from: Andis 22235 Super Two Speed Detachable Plus Pet Hair Clipper (Health and Beauty)
I waited to write this review as I wanted to be acurate. I carefully read all reviews before I purchased this item and felt this was the tool for me. I have a 2 year old labradoodle with a thick fleece coat, standard size. It costs me $65 each time I take him to the groomer, which should be about every 6 weeks. Well, I don't spend that much on my hair...So, I felt if I could keep up with his trimmings that the razor could pay for itself, quickly. The first time I trimmed Ziggy, it took 4 hours,x'x 4 days(4 hours each day). Oh yeah. I was highly discouraged, however his coat is a monster in and of itself. Subsequent shavings 2 hours max and I was done, head to tail. When not too long the razor glides through his hair like butter on a hot knife. This experience gave me a much greater appreaciation for my groomer. I am very happy with the Andis 22235, it's already paid for itself. There were some issues with the razor getting hot (contributed to the 4hour x 4day event) and it does help to oil frequently.

These trimmers are commercial duty and will pay for themselves if you take your dog to be trimmed or shaved more that once a year. We checked around before buying these and our local vet recommended them because theirs have lasted about 5 years with continual use. If you buy these just for occasional use, I doubt you will ever wear them out.

These clippers were SO absolutely horrible that grooming my dog was a complete nightmare!! They ran VERY slow, and the blades got too hot to touch after only five minutes into clipping my dogs paws! I HAD to stop because they were literally BURNING him!! My Osters would get hot, but never this bad! Not to mention the plastic housing and on/off switch were very cheap compare to the nice beefy metal Osters that sell for the SAME price! Save yourself some agony and buy the Osters!!

Love the clippers. They get a little hot early. But other than that, it was easy to use on the dog. Best clippers I have found so far.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this clipper, June 1, 2011

I've been a dog groomer for 8 years. This clipper lasted 2 years which is excellent. I've tried multiple other clippers and keep coming back to this one. It does heat up but I just switch out the blades. Andis clippers are much quieter then Oster clippers.
