Andis 22340 AGC 2-Speed Detachable-Blade Small-Animal Clipper

I previously owned a Wahl kit from Walmart. It comes in a case with all the plastic attachments for length, scissors, comb, DVD, etc.... and all for under $50. Well the problem with this kit is that it just doesn't cut. And you can adjust the blade in and out a bit for length which is a hassle. Also the blade is always loose and crooked. It works so badly that you shove the clipper into the fur and you jsut comb the fur around and it doesn't cut at all. Utter garbage.

I know nothing about animal clippers, so I went online to take a look. I see that there are many brands with Oster and Andis being some of the better ones. I also see that the blades are built as one piece for the length you want. So to get different lengths you swap out blades. No adjustments required so they are perfectly tuned. This is good, but you have to pay $25 or so for each blade and they arn't included with the clippers.

I went to the pet shop and picked up the Andis AGC-2 speed which was reasonably priced compared to the others which are $200-$300. I also picked up another blade. All I can say is wow. It actually works and it works good. I love the blade system without having a single setup and plastic attachments like the cheap ones. It mows right through the worst of fur. I'm sure all pro clippers work great but I'll give a few highlights I noticed.

The feel of the unit is great. It's a bit heavy but just enough to feel solid, not tiring. It has 2 speeds, fast for a going through the thick coat, and slower for trimming and most cutting. The unit is quiet and doesn't heat up like my old Wahl. The old one would heat up so much I had a hard time holding it in certain areas cause it burned. The blades switch out fast and easy with no screws...they just clip in. There are no areas for the fur to get clogged in...so it stays clean. You can do a whole dog without stopping to clean the fur out. The cord is very long as well which is a plus. The kit comes with a #10 (short) for trimming, paws, etc..., a big bottle of oil not a little dropper, and a spare drive mechanism. Uses AG Andis and Oster blades and these are steel not ceramic which I hear dull easily.

Compared to all the pro clippers, this one is well priced and got good reviews from groomers on the net. I did the research. It also fits Oster AG blades which I hear are even better than Andis blades. The Oster clippers are very expensive though. From what I saw on the net Andis and Oster seemed to be the top 2 brands from groomers.

I bought this trimmer originally from a local pet store. The Andis brand was highly recommended by a professional pet groomer. They told me the Oster was cheaply made and tended to fall apart easily. After purchasing, I looked on Amazon.com to see how other consumers rated the trimmer. Had a very favorable rating, but then I also noticed that Amazon.com sold the trimmer for $60 cheaper than the store...so I order the trimmer from Amazon.com and took the other trimmer back to the store that very same day I had bought it...and told the customer service why it was being returned.

The trimmer was delivered from Amazon.com within 1 week. I am very pleased with it. It is soooo quiet...my dogs don't mind it at all. It also doesn't get hot like my old Oster trimmer did (which did fall apart...the housing had cracked and was leaking oil). Although it does have 2 speeds, I basically only use the lower speed. So if you are comparing trimmers solely between single or 2-speed...the single should suffice.

This trimmer is very easy to use and fits nicely in the hand. The casing doesn't get hot at all. The AGC style is really nice and convenient for quickly changing blades, which I do because I have two dogs that I trim and each uses a different blade length.

I guarantee you will like this trimmer. Although you may use it for your own personal use, just remember it is professional grade, so you should get many years of use out of it. With these type products...you really do get what you pay for.

I bought this for my mom to use on our dogs. We have a terrier chow mix. She has a thick coat. All other clippers have failed when it came to trimming her. These clippers were smooth and quiet. They didn't even bother the dog, she sat there with no problem. I recommend these clippers to all dog owners who want to save money on grooming!

I bought these to groom my mini schnauzer/yorkie mix. I have no grooming experience and have never even used clippers before, but when my husband came home and saw the dog he thought I had taken her to be professionally groomed. I was absolutely amazed at how well these clippers work. They are very quiet, stayed completely cool, and gave a great even cut. I read online reviews on several different websites before deciding on these. You can not go wrong with this set!! The blade that comes with the clippers is great for getting that close to the body cut. I will be investing in a 1/2" blade to use on my golden retriever.

I've been mowing human hair (myself and 2 kids) for around 17 years now. So at $50+ a pop for 2 border collies at the local puppy coiffure spas I figure to save a few bucks fast, why not? On recomendation of one of these pros, I paid the nice price for the nice new tool shown here. Still the big question was before me. Can I really handle this! Those collies' hair is long, long, long! But determined as ever and with the additional pointer from the pros that one shaves dogs' hair w/ these tight little blades WITH the grain, not AGAINST the grain, I dug in. And I kept digging in. And then I dug in some more! Next time will be a snip and a snap I think as the resulting COOL, beautiful, short and non-shedding coats should go away with one easy pass. The dogs simply love it! What a relief even in this globally warmed paradise we live in! The machine performs as expected.. no problem whatsoever! It's a heavy duty precision device that made me feel like a pro in no time at all!

I couldnt be happier with this clipper. After struggling for years with a cheap clipper set, this was so easy to use. Went through like butter. I also ordered some of the andis blades that cut at different lengths. This set up is so much nicer to work with then the plastic snap on guides that I was using before.

This clipper actually made headway through the ultra thick coat on my Persian cat. I tried the cheaper store bought clippers that sell for around 50 bucks and they did not cut her hair at all well. This clipper cut through her coat like a hot knife through butter.
The ultra quiet motor resulted in a much calmer experience for my cat. The ability to step up the speed seemed to make this less startling for her as well.
You can feel the quality in the heft of this clipper. Be prepared to feel it in your wrist if you cut for long periods of time.
The ability to quickly remove the bottom plate without having to remove screws is a huge plus in cleaning.

I just got this yesterday and immediately groomed my two Mini-Schnauzers. My groomer quit and I decided to try home grooming. I was completely scared, but after reading reviews and clipping advice online, I decided to just plow through it. I can't believe that the results I got are actually better than anything I've ever paid a professional to do! I had plenty of pictures next to me to consult, which helped. The clippers worked amazingly well. I decided to use the 7FC on their head and body, and the 3 3/4FC on their legs and belly. The 7FC length is a nice body length-short without being bald and leaving a soft coat. I don't think I'll ever use the #10 blade that came with the unit-too short for my taste. The 3 3/4FC is perfect for the legs because I didn't want to hand clip them and this blade allows the ease of razor clipping while still leaving my dogs with the typical 2 length schnauzer cut. A perfect 3 season cut which will keep all the stickers off of them! I'll have to wait for cold weather to decide if I will vary the length. What I love about this is that I can cut them the way I prefer, instead of always asking my groomer to cut this part of their body shorter or keep this part longer! The clipper is quiet, so my girls were very calm and sat still through most of the cutting. It took 3 hours to completely shape, cut, trim eyebrows, and bathe 2 dogs. The unit never got hot as some reviewers suggested. I figure over time with practice that my cutting time will keep getting shorter! I definitely recommend a quality clipper such as ths Andis 22340 for anyone thinking of grooming their own dogs!

These clippers work so wonderfully that I actually enjoy clipping my dogs!!! The hair just glides off of their little bodies now!! I used to take 5 to 6 hours to groom my three dogs, now I can do it in 2 to 3 hours!! You will not be disappointed with these clippers. Purchase different size blades to suit your type of grooming. Don't skimp on using the clipper oil or the cooling spray. That will make a significant difference to you and your pet. Thank you Andis!!!!!!

I have two poodles and every time I was going to the groomer I would spend about $100, so I decided to invest my money wisely and I got a professional clipper. I paid around $130 for the clipper, almost the same thing I would pay for ONLY one visit to the groomer! Of course since I am not a groomer the only thing I know how to do is to cut the hair short, but since there are many websites and also videos in Youtube that show you how to cut their hair, I am sure nex time, I will be able to do more than just cut their hair short.
