Excellent clippers for heavy dog fur,
By The amazing thing about these clippers is that they seem so solidly built. They are not very noisy at all. Actually, my husband and I laugh because these animal clippers are much better than the "human" ones they use on him when he gets a haircut. :)

Like a hot knife through butter!,

I have a black, long-hair, dauschound-spaniel mix (Macy) that has an undercoat so thick I can hardley see her skin. My husband got a pair of Oster clippers at Wal-Mart and they worked fine on our Bicha-Poo who has fine, short hair. But on Macy? They barley cut, they clogged easily as I drug the clipper along her coat and were basically useless. We live in South Texas and in this 100+ degree heat, the poor thing was miserable. So I sprung for the Andis after reading good reviews. I bought them from KV Vet Supply off Amazon and they were a great seller. Everything arrived quickly and the order was complete. These clippers aren't cheap, but a trip to the groomer for both dogs is around $100 so I figure they will pay for themselves in less than two clippings. Poor Macy! As soon as they arrived, I have to play with them of course. So I get a hold of her and I was totally unprepared for how they were going to perform. Wow! They went right down to her undercoat like she didn't have a top coat at all and trimmed perfectly. However, she's looking a little ragged! I'll get better with the blade angle as time goes by I'm sure. But she's much cooler and happier now. And I'm no longer losing my mind with little balls of black fur she leaves behind when she needs a trim. The blades didn't get hot like I have read about some. Of course, she is less than 30 pounds so there is less of her to cut. Perhaps on a bigger dog, they may get hot. I bought the cooling spray too but discovered I really didn't need it since I was done with her in about 10 minutes. These are a great product and I highly recommend!

Amazing! I have a chow chow...,
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I have a chow chow who is prone to skin allergies and matting. She has had hot spots and chewed away hair so much we started taking her to the groomers to be shaved down. I had tried other clippers and they couldn't get through the thick under coat. These clippers had my whole chow chow cut in an hour and a half with her full coat (with several resting breaks for my baby). They get a bit warm but nothing near what those cheaper clippers get to and they cool off extremely quickly. I will probably get a longer guard later but the one that came with it doesn't go all the way to the skin, which i prefer. I'm sure if i can cut a chow chow with them, they'll tackle any job. A+++! Worth every penny!

Recommended by several professional groomers!,
By The motor is very quiet compared to the old Oster clippers I had (which, you got it, had begun to break...plastic casing). I love the detachable blades because I clip 2 of my dogs, with different type coats, so I need the option to be able to "quickly" change blades. I also had purchased the attachment combs, but don't like them for the clipping I do. Therefore, I bought additional blades made for specific length coats. The casing of the unit doesn't get hot at all. I am able to trim both of my dogs without having to take a break to let the unit cool. I trim a Norfolk Terrier, using a 3-1/2 blade (longest blade you can get) and it leaves enough coat on him so he doesn't look scalped yet it is evened out so he doesn't look like a wild wolf. My other dog is an Affenpinscher/Min. Schnauzer mix, so I trim her more like the Min. Schnauzer...using the 10 blade around the muzzle and ears, and for her body I use either the 7 blade in summer or the 5-3/4 blade in winter. I highly recommend this trimmer. I originally purchased it at a nationally known pet supplies store, on sale. However, I found the price at Amazon.com to be $60 less than the store sale price, so I returned those (new and unused, still in the box of course!!!) and ordered through Amazon.com. You'll be totally amazed at how quiet the motor is...quiet enough that my dogs aren't bothered by it at all. The 2-speeds are nice to have if you need it, but I always use the lower speed...have not found the need to rev it up higher. Bottom line, great brand trimmer, good quality, quiet, and detachable blades! Also, don't forget...highly recommended brand by several professional dog groomers, so the Andis is long-lasting...should give you years of great clips!

A hot knife thru butter!!!!,
A Kid's Review
This is an AMAZING clipper!!! It works so smoothly. Takes the hair off like it's cutting thru air. My miniature schnauzer was looking VERY rough when I decided to buy these and they worked magic one him. A couple of trips to the groomer vs these clippers...I'll take the clippers. I used to dread grooming my dog, now I don't mind it at all! I didn't think they were loud or became too hot when I used them. A groomer recommended these to me and I'm so glad she did. They are GREAT!!!

New Groomer!,
Andis AGC2 Super Professional Clipper clips hair! I am a new groomer to a small breed dog. The clipper offers two speeds; I used the high speed without even thinking about it. High speed was great, it clipped my Havanese (long haired small dog) without any problems at all. I did buy #40 Blade and Multiple Combs to go with my trimmer.
Removing and changing the blades were difficult to perform on the clipper. Instructions were difficult to understand also. Once I became accustomed to the clipper and understood how the clipper worked, attaching a new blade was very easy. Removing the blade took some practice. I am very pleased with the clipper and I would recommend this clipper very much. I was pleased with the weight and sound of the clipper. The clipper appears to be very well made and durable. When I first picked up the clipper, I thought it was heavy, but once I started clipping, I did not notice the weight. As for the noise of the clipper, my dog was fine with the buzz sound and I was also pleased with the buzz of the clippers, which I did NOT find annoying. I did a bunch of research on clippers for a few months. I wanted a clipper that was quiet and I wanted a good clipper that would last years and I think I have found the clipper that will meet my needs. Now, if I can get my dog to stand still while I am clipping, that would be great! .

This review is from: Andis 22360 AGC Super 2-Speed Professional Animal Clipper with Locking Blade (Health and Beauty)
The Andis 22360 AGC works very well. Mine gets hotter than I expected from other reviews. The #10 blade that comes with it cuts the hair to very near the skin (1/16 of an inch) with ease. To leave the hair longer it requires either a different blade or combs (purchased separately). When using combs it cuts much more slowly and not nearly as easily; so I would be inclined to order the blade for the length you need rather than using the combs.

After very careful research, and after having tried it before with much cheaper brands, we bought these clippers for our 75 pound, heavy-coat Golden Doodle and Schnauzer. Having NEVER cut a dog before, I was somewhat apprehensive. Not any more! I have been through two cuts now with each dog and I am very pleased.
The Schnauzer is only about a 15 minute task with these clippers and he very much enjoys it. The golden takes more time because he is so large and the fur is do dense, but the clippers absolutely withstand the challenge. We bought these to save money from having to go to the groomer --and they have already given us pay back. If I had all the money in the world, I would buy two pair of these because --like every other clipper- do get somewhat hot. (If I had another pair I would let one cool while using the other) But that said, I can make it straight through to completion with only one pair, I just need to be aware to not hold it on the golden as it is hot enough to be uncomfortable, but not hot enough to burn him. If you, like me, have never cut a dog, I highly recommend taking the plunge and investing in this Andis brand and giving it a try. They work! Both the dogs now, once they see the clippers, are ecstatic, because they both now very much like having their hair cut --the process is not intimidating to them whatsoever. These Andis have been a very good investment.

Perfect for thick double-coats.,

After purchasing a clipper that did nothing more than cut a couple of chunks out of my pomeranian's coat, I got serious about digesting every review I could, and finally settled on purchasing this clipper. It was an excellent choice!
Saw a number of "cuts like a knife through butter" comments from others on this 22360 model - was hopeful it would at least cut Tank's fur, but wasn't quite sure I'd experience cutting like butter with the double-coat. Although I wouldn't characterize it as a knife through butter, it's pretty darn close! Took the advice of other reviewers, and purchased ceramic blades. The problem with the thick double-coat is that you have to take your time, and the metal blades can heat up pretty quickly. The ceramic blades, while they still heat, don't heat nearly as quickly (and they cool down very quickly when you stop cutting). I also bought an aerosol clipper spray that both cools the blades and cleans the blades by blowing the hair out. It helps. Besides the ill-fated chunks previously removed, I'd never actually cut Tank's hair before. But I'd studied how to do a lion cut on him. The clipper comes with a #10 blade - that's not bald, but it's awfully close! Not being sure, I bought a 7FC (1/8") if I really do want his hair that short; a 4FH (3/8") if I want him to have a little hair; and 3 3/4FC (1/2"). Turns out I've been sticking with the 3 3/4FC for his body - it is really short enough! I'm sure I'll find a use for the others. For the double coat, it still takes me a long time - not sure if it's his coat though, or if it's me. Still trying to get the knack of it. Probably takes me 2 hrs to cut him, and I've done it twice now, but gosh he's cute when it's done! He's bored from me making him stay in one place so long, but at least he's not freaked out. This AGC has a couple great points - one is that it has 2 speeds. More importantly though, even on the high speed, it is really not a loud clipper at all. I cut Tank's hair on a blanket on the living room floor while 'watching' tv with my hubby. The little bit of noise isn't disruptive at all. I'm extremely happy with this purchase! |
