Good clipper but heat is an issue,

I have two Golden Doodles. They have the thickest, fastest growing, and in general, most difficult to groom fur of any dog I've ever seen. I run this model Andis on high speed only and it does have the power to do the job. However, as others have mentioned, the blades heat up rather quickly. I use the cool spray frequently which helps. You just have to keep track of the temp at regular intervals by touching the blade on your own skin and, when necessary, spray it and let it cool for a minute or so. It gets to be a habit and isn't as much of a bother as it would at first seem. I guess you get use to just about anything. I would give the clippers 5 stars were it not for the heat problem since they are fairly quiet, powerful, and it's fast and easy to swap blades and clean. What I really need though are sheep shears!

Professional Groomer Review and a few tips,
By
This review is from: Andis 22405 UltraEdge AGC 2-Speed Detachable-Blade Animal Clipper, Blue (Health and Beauty)
I went to grooming school well over 10yrs ago and started with a nice pair of Oster clippers. I had difficulty getting through thick coated dogs and switched to the Andis A2 model. The difference was night and day! I still have that original pair of Andis clippers for home use and use the newer model at a local shelter.
Some tips- Blades will get hotter on the 2nd/faster setting (they are rubbing back and forth very quickly--they are going to get hot people--no matter what--any blades that move fast enough to slip smoothly through a thick dog's coat will have the same problem). The trick is to have at least 2 sets of blades and cooling spray. Remember to oil your blades and while grooming use the cooling spray--when they get too warm switch them out for the other blade and keep rotating. It's worth the money-it'll save you a lot of time and your dog some grief. Also--clean hair is MUCH easier for clippers to go through. Extra dirt and oils in the hair will slow you down a lot and make the clippers heat up much faster--so bath your dog (scrub down to the skin on those thick coated breeds) and then blow him/her dry or at least let thoroughly air dry. T-h-o-r-o-u-g-h-l-y dry. Hope this helps!

Not a good buy,

I have an Andis clipper that I bought the first part of this year from a local pet store. They got so hot we could not finish cutting a miniature schnauzer without having to let them cool several times.
I ordered the Andis Ultra Edge AGC Super 2 speed clipper on the recommendation a person the clips dogs on the side and a partial review of the product on Amazon.com. We used the clippers for the first time 7, 12, 07. I am one that reads instructions before using a product because I don't profess to know more about something then the manufacture does like some people do. These clippers were oiled like the instructions say. We could not get the dogs head done without having to stop because they got so hot. You could not hold your hand on them. I also ordered a different blade for the clippers and they also go so hot we had to stop. I have one miniature schnauzer that is kind of butchered up and another one that is not finished. We have to wait a couple days for the Oster clippers to arrive. I have requested a refund on these clippers and have another brand ordered from Amazon. P.S. I am almost bald and my wife can not give me a complete hair cut without having to stop and wait for the clippers to cool. The clippers came from USA-WORLD-SALES and they will not give a refund on the clippers. 2115|R3VBFE1P4XYCUN;2115|R1DOAKES3ERBNK;2115|R1635SMYLYWHOS;
