I was looking for a pet trimmer to cut my dog's hair. I have a cocker spaniel who has thick and matted hair. I wanted something durable, fairly quiet, and not too heavy.

Originally, i was thinking about buying the newer version of this trimmer which is RED in color and is CORDLESS and has two speed settings. A plus i thought! But the price was more than i could afford, so i settled for this one instead. Needless to say i was not disappointed. I am not a professional pet groomer, not in the least! This was actually my first time cutting my own dog's hair. I figured i would save money doing it myself, and heck! This way i can see what goes on when my dog is being trimmed: no wondering if he is getting abused by the groomer, or being held down, etc. I can rest easy knowing that he is in my care!! Also, my dog got fleas not that long ago. I dont know for sure, but i think he got them from the groomer's. Who knows how many other dog's his groomer would do in a day. And those fleas were a pain in the butt to get rid of!!! Its better i do his hair at home!

My thoughts on the use of it: It was very smooth cutting the thick hair of my dog. It came with a few attachment combs which helped when i was doing this legs and stomach and feet. You will want an attachment comb on there when doing the stomach of your pet or else you will get too close. The blade gets hot like any other trimmer, so buy the ANDIS COOL CARE spray to go along with it. Just spray the blade every 5 minutes or so to keep it cool and your pet comfortable. The cord on this trimmer is very long, which is good if you want to be able to move around the table you have your pet set on. The noise level of it isnt bad. Its not super quiet, but not super loud either. I think it is a good deal for the price. I know it will last me a long time, and either way, you can replace the blades if you use it all the time. This one comes with a standard 10 blade, which is basic for most cuts. A lot of professional groomers get a 7 blade also for cutting down the back of the dog. But i just stuck with the one blade that it came with. I just use the attachment combs when i want to keep his hair longer. It works the same i think. So why get another blade!! The one blade is good enough, just use the combs that come with this trimmer and you will be fine!!

I feel comfortable using this trimmer, and am very happy to have purchased it. If you are looking for a trimmer of good quality which has a nice long cord, and isnt too heavy, then this is the trimmer for you. Just remember to buy the ANDIS COOL CARE spray also because like any trimmer, the blade will get hot and you dont want to give razor burn to your pet!!!

The Andis AGC works pretty well. I trimmed 3 dogs in about one hour and they look pretty silly but they're happy. Seems sturdy and it's quiet. Make sure to oil the blades ever 20 minutes or so.

After purchasing numerous cheaper pet clippers, that didn't do the job, our Vet recommended the Andis line of Professional Pet Clippers. They work great and are worth every penny.

I've only used this clipper once so far, but it's worked great. I have a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and he doesn't need a lot of grooming which is why I'm grooming him myself.
I bought the clippers mainly to keep his feet short and to do an occasional whole body cut.
The blade does get hot after a couple minutes, so definitely buy some blade cooler too.
We will have to see how the clippers stand up to time.
Overall, I'm very satisfied with my purchase.

we got this to trim the beard, feet and rear of our soft coat wheaten terrier. It took a bit to get the hang of these. I accidently cut off our dogs beard. oh, well it will grow back. I was surprised how quietly these are. go to the andis.com website for tips. apparently we were supposed to bathe her first. The description on this clipper is WRONG! It is not 2 speed. it is on or off. I really like the 15' long cord. This is a nice set. Except for a pair of scissors, is should be all we need. considering the fact that 1 session at the pet salon cost $50 it won't take long to get my monies worth out of this.

This works amazingly well. My dog is part poodle, and his hair is thick and mattes easily. Tried other types of clippers and returned them all. I have cut both my dogs hair with this at least 3x's which has already saved us so much money, and paid for itself twice over. It is really a great product. I would recommend it to anyone wanting to groom their pets at home. My professional groomer is the one who recommended this one to me.

Our Golden is eleven and last year tore the ACLs in both hind knees. I used to have him done at a local grooming shop, but they can't do it without putting him on the table (Even though I explained what happened and was assured they would!). The next two days he could barely walk so I decided it was time to do it myself. Well, it was the best decision for him! The clippers work great, I will qualify that I used the larger blade than what came with the set. After about a half an hour they did get a little warm and I was only half finished, so we took a break. I was able to finish after that and we both loved it. He thought he was King with all the attention! I won't take another pet to the groomers, this is too easy and after a couple clippings it pays for itself. Have recommended this to all family and friends with pets. Don't let the minor issue with it getting a little warm stop you from getting this. If your pet is large enough to take more than 30 minutes to clip you both will want a break anyway. The benefits of the quality time with your pet far outweighs the cons.

I've been cutting my Maltese's hair for about 5 years now. My Oster clippers finally bit the dust, so I bought this one out of advice from a Groomer. EXCELLENT! Her hair was matted and this cut right through it without hardly any effort. Well worth the cost and I'm sure she would rather mommy cut her hair than a strange person at the groomer's.

I used these clippers on my Havanese & they worked great. I tried several different clippers before finding this one & I now intend to purchase this model. It cut right through my dogs hair which was fairly long at the time and I was impressed. The blade did get pretty hot after about 20 minutes, but that is my only complaint & probably would happen with any clippers.

No complaints with the clipper, except that it's so much better than the Wahl I was using it'll take some getting used to. Long cord is great, great power.

Locally bought a #4 ceramic blade (wanted the different cutting length, and the included steel blade gets very hot) and found the plastic attachment combs that fit the included #10 blade won't fit it. Lesson learned.

The "sturdy case" isn't. It doesn't hold the items very well, it's thin flimsy plastic, I don't expect the latches to last, and the molded compartments are the wrong shape for the obvious accessories. It won't hold the clipper with the #4 blade installed. Even if you don't get another blade don't let the case factor into your purchase decision, you'll be disappointed.
