This is a great set of clippers,we decided it would be cheaper to cut our small dog's hair so we ordered this set.Is easy to use, cuts great,we are very pleased. Our next door neighbor recommended this brand. He has a large dog and has been through a lot of clippers. He said this brand has lasted longer then any other brand he has bought.

Great clipper for the price,

I purchased this but was really surprised at how well it performed. It cuts fairly efficiently, my poodle's hair was quite thick, and it had no problems trimming the hair off.
When thr price of a pet trimming/grooming is $50, this thing makes up for it in 2 trims.

Decent but not great,

For the money, it's a good starter kit for those interested in grooming. We bought it for our toy poodle that we were interested in home grooming. I think for those pet owners who want something inexpensive that works fairly well and can give them an idea if home grooming is something they want to continue to do, this product is great. Why spend $150 or more on a pair of high end clippers only to decide you'd rather pay someone else to groom?
The blade dulled fairly quickly though admittedly, the curly poodle coat isn't the most blade friendly type of hair so expect to either have the blade replaced or sharpened frequently. Since we've decided to continue home grooming, we've decided to get a more expensive Oster 2 speed A5 clipper. Seems like all the higher end ($100+) clipper reviews all say that everyone eventually finds their way to the nice Oster clippers after all is said and done. So if you are simply curious if you want to start grooming or don't mind blade maintenance, these aren't too bad. The first couple of grooms with it were very good (in my totally unprofessional opinion) but each got progressively more and more time consuming removing the clipper hair length guide, pulling out blade clogging hair, putting the plastic thing back on and going another several inches before repeating the process...

Started out ok, but it's almost as if this unit had an expiration date or something. Bought it to clip our shih tzu in between groomer visits to save a few bucks. Worked fine for the first 6 or so uses, but went drastically downhill from there. It just struggled to minimally clip my dog's hair. I'm going to do what I should've done in the first place and invest in a higher quality unit.

I expected much more from this product. The clipper is not very powerful and did a poor job of cutting our dog's (Shitzu) hair. I would not recommend it.

Agree with person who said deluxe p.o.s.,

I'd bought some previous incarnation of Andis' deluxe pet clippers. They lasted about 3 or 4 years cutting 2 dogs hair. This set (I tried it twice - was in denial) failed immediately. The first set just wouldn't cut through the dog's hair. The other ones lasted for about 3 cuts. Crappy! Have no idea what they changed in their product line, but these are disposable.

I bought this clipper as a replacement for a friend whose previous Andis clipper I had borrowed (and my dog had bitten through the cord :-{ ). I patched the old cord, and was able to use it successfully 2-3 times. This week, we tried both the new and used clippers on four different dogs of various sizes and hair types -- and neither will trim more than a minute bit hair off any of the dogs. Very frustrating. I could understand if the older clipper had a dull blade, but the new clipper had exactly the same problem (and it has been used less than 8-10 times), rendering it unusable. When the clipper worked, it worked well -- but not working after a handful of uses is unacceptable.

Bottom line is that this was the biggest waste of money. We own a pekinese and this set of clippers won't cut his hair enough to save his life. I have followed all of the directions, tried numerous approaches and this thing couldn't cut its way out of a wet paper bag. Needless to say it didn't cut it... punn totally intended. Don't waste your money.

This clipper kit isn't bad. It is not silent though and my dog has issues with the noise that it makes. Another issue that I have with it is that the case isn't molded to hold the tools on the inside and makes for a mes if you aren't careful.
What I love is the fact that the cut is clean and that it doesn't pull his fur or hurt him. He looks very handsome after his trim. He just HATES the noise. All in all it was a good purchase for the price!

We purchased this product because it was listed as "ultra quiet" on the Amazon page. There is nothing on the box advertising to identify it as "ultra quiet" and it isn't. It's louder than the generic clippers we already had. |
