Very sharp and cut very well.

I will need to buy more blades sizes though so I can cut at different lengths but the #10 blade that is comes with is a good start.

These just arrived today. After reading the reviews of Oster Turbo owners and 2+ speed Andis owners I was becoming discouraged. So many people with the same reviews...my dog would say owch! Or, these caught on fire, or they started snagging right away. I also give the manufacturer's a 10% rule where sometimes your luck isn't going to be good and you get a malfunctioned unit.

Salvation at last! After reading everyones reviews and going to the Andis site and reading more reviews I saw a review from a dog groomer (can't find the review on Andis anymore ): ) who said their employer bought a 2 speed Andis that got hot and didnt work good. However her old clipper was a 1 speed model that would take forever to get hot and worked wonders. That is when I decided on getting the 1 speed. It didnt matter to me that it would possibly take longer to cut my dogs hair. I wanted our Golden Retriever and Great Pyrenese to be comfortable and enjoy getting their hair cut. I turned them on and wow were they quiet. Our Great Pyrenese was intrested right away, both of our dogs loved these clippers and I did as well. I had 2 Wahl cheap clippers before that I got at Walmart which cut their hair to 1/8" (0.125) and make their skin irritated. Also the clippers would get really hot after 20 minutes so I had to switch or let them cool down. With that said I decided I didn't want to use the included blade a #10 Ceramic Edge that would cut their hair just as short as my Old Cheap'O. So we bought a Ceramic Edge #5 to cut their hair to 1/4" (0.25").

The clippers got warm while cutting my Golden's hair 40 min and after an hour of use on the Great Pyr they were hot...he was done anyway and his their hair cut was so even! After I was done they were cool again in 10 minutes....FYI.

We were very happy with this product. One salon groomer I talked to says this is the model they use at her place of business but that the cutting speed is a little slow for her taste. In my opinion the cutting speed is perfect for someone learning to groom their own pet. Since I am not a professional grooming animals every day, I will probably always be comfortable with its current cutting speed. I'm using it on long haired cats and it is quiet enough that we can groom them without a huge fuss or sedating them like a veterinary groomer would have to do. I am very happy to not have to take my cats to a groomer when their coats get too long for them to handle in the litter box and I'm very happy to not have to deal with the danger of scissors in animal grooming. The blades on this model were well guarded with no danger of injuring my animals. I will need to buy more blades sizes though so I can cut at different lengths but the #10 blade that is comes with is a good start.

We have malti-poos and the very thin hair gets jammed sometimes, but, overall they are very solid clippers at a decent price.

These clippers are good, but get hot in about 15-20 min. This is with a clean coat & whether I go with the grain or against it, on my begian shepherd with a 7fc blade. Also watch video on You Tube to change blades as directions were misleading.

It arrived well and on time! However, it was too heavy to handle. My wrist hurt when I was using it on my dog. I ended up returning it and went and bought one at a store, same brand, because I wanted to see if I was going to be able to handle it.
