I have used this twice on my terrier mix, who has a not overly dense undercoat, and a light outer coat. Both times it took me over an hour to finish the grooming because I had to keep going over spots to even it out. In the end, my dog looks OK, but slightly moth eaten. When I called the company, they told me this is intended for light grooming and that it wasn't suitable for a terrier. That's certainly not how they advertise it! I paid about $38; for $10 more, I can get one that was rated 4 1/2 stars.

I have a min. schnauzer to trim every 2 months. The machine has difficulty getting through the dense fur, requiring multiple passes to complete the job. I like the light. It helps greatly when working on her face and paws.

Our cats don't mind being trimmed with this clipper, and it does a great job. the light is a great help, and it is easy to clean and use.
We also use it to cut my hair as well, and it works much better than a battery trimmer.
We love it!
