This review is from: Andis 27370 Super 2-Speed Professional Animal Clipper (Health and Beauty)
Andis 27370 Super 2 speeds Professional Animal Clippers are very easy to use even for a beginner. I got them because I bath my 2 little dogs all the time but never tried to clip them and 1 trip to the groomers for both my dogs paid for the clippers. Now I can trim, clip or shave and do whatever is needed for my dogs without having to make appointments, don't need to drive anywhere just plug in and clip away! The powerful 2 speeds made a huge difference in being able to go through my maltase's really thick hair very easy. The clippers are actually very quite and the sound does not bother the dogs. My dogs trust me so they both just went to sleep, had to have my hubby hold them up because they were so relaxed and calm. The groomers have always told me that my bichon is not very cooperative but she is the best when I clip her hair. You will really like these and it's purple too! It comes with 1 blade and oil too.

This review is from: Andis 27370 Super 2-Speed Professional Animal Clipper (Health and Beauty)
I have 2 poodle mixes that need grooming every six-eight weeks. Their regular groomer is currently sick, and since this clipper would pay for itself in 2 visits to the groomer, I thought I would try grooming them myself. They only get a very simple "puppy cut", basically all over one length, apart from a shorter cut around the private areas. As well as this clipper, I bought a separate blade (a size 4FC), because the clipper only ships with a blade that gives a very short cut: fine for the private areas, but much too short for the head or body.
Today, I used the clipper for the first time. I was disappointed in its performance, for several reasons: * The instructions and illustrations in the manual were very poor. (As is the website!) * It took me ages to remove the blade that the clipper ships with, in order to install the blade I wanted to use for the body cut. One has to press a very flimsy toggle, and at the same time push/pull the blade. The instructions on how to do this were poor. There might be a knack to it, but for a new user, it was extremely frustrating and even painful to keep pressing the toggle while struggling to remove the hard-to-grip blade. * The blade clogged with hair very rapidly, and stopped cutting effectively as a result. To make it cut properly, I had to use a blunt knife to push hair out of the blade every 5 min or so. As soon as I did this, it started cutting well again, but it was irritating to have to do this so frequently. I'm sure it would be simple to invent a tool that could be used to clear the hair quickly and more fully than my improvisation with the knife: the clipper should ship with such a tool. * According to the instructions, one has to keep oiling the blade every so often during use, which probably contributes to the clogging mentioned above: bits of hair get caught by the oil, and form a sticky mat on the blade. * One of my dogs was very spooked by the noise of the clipper. He has never had a problem at the groomer. On the plus side: * The two-speed feature was useful for the dog that I did manage to clip: I used the high speed for some very thick patches on her coat. She also didn't mind the noise. * The blade didn't get extremely hot. Even after 20+ minutes of use (with pauses for oiling and clearing hair), it was just warm to the touch. If I hadn't already used it for half an hour, I would seriously consider returning it. As it is, I will try reclipping the dog I managed to groom, but I will clip her in a month's time rather than waiting for the usual 6-8 weeks, in case it will be easier to clip her if her hair is shorter. My other dog will have to keep going to the professional groomer for now, because he is so scared of the noise of these clippers.
