This purchase was a huge disappointment. I just got this straightener less than a week ago, and already, the black paint or whatever it is on the plates have already begun to chip off. I've considered returning it, but would be at a loss for the shipping since this thing is only 20 bucks. Regardless, I would not recommend this product to anyone since it could not even hold up for a week. I am so disappointed. What a waste of money.

it did a great job,

i have to say that the iron did a great job in straightening my hair! i'm african american and my hair stayed straight in the rain and in humidity! but it didn't burn my hair like other irons i used and didn't have that burning hair smell. for that i would give it 4 stars. but like another user, my iron started to chip also! i just purchased it last week and used it once on relaxed hair that was blown straight first. so i would give it 2 stars for that. also the iron started to chip in on the top plate in one area, making me think that the iron gets too hot in that once spot.

YOU CAN'T GET A BETTER VALUE THAN THIS!,

I recently received this flat iron in the mail and I must say that I was extremely impressed. I left it to heat up and literally blinked once and it was ready to go! I have very fine, wavy hair that frizzes at the mention of moisture. This product instantly smoothed and straightened my hair without the need to go over the hair more than once. To top it all off, this 23 dollar flat iron comes with a 5 YEAR WARRENTY! I had to do a double take when I read this in the package. My sister had also just purchased a $[...] Chi iron from the mall and I had to rub this great value in her face (I did tell her to wait and I could get her a much better price on the same if not similar product) I am extremely happy with the performance and overall design of this product.

Worth buying,

I just purchased this iron from an Ulta store for $25. I have used it only 3 times. I am one of these people that will spend more to get a better product in the long run. I am giving it four stars because based on the all the reviews I am assuming the black stuff will start chipping off eventually. All that aside, this iron works great. It does not singe hair, takes care of frizz, makes hair repel outside moisture well. I got the 1 inch iron. My hair is wavy, very frizzy, dry, color damaged, should length, etc. The ionic factor is the key thing in not burning your hair. I also have a 100 dollar ionic blow dryer and it does not singe my hair other, like cheap dryers. Well worth the investment I might add.I spend less time drying my hair with round brush, which pulls and breaks the wet hair. I know they say you get what you pay for with these flat irons, but consider this; The best iron on the market is said to be GHD for around $200 give or take a few dollars. If this iron doesn't start chipping for 6 months, I can go out and get another one for $25 in a minute. I would have to go through 8 of these to equal $200. I'd say the fact that it does its job otherwise makes it worth buying and maybe having to buy another one in 6 months or so. After reading so many reviews before buying this, I have determined the following factors to be the most important: It has to be ionic(keeps hair from burning) it has to heat up to at least 350 degrees and it has to have ceramic plates. If you have all 3 of those things, a flat iron will do its job. It should just glide over the hair easily, as well. A long time ago I bought a revlon one for under $20. It pulled and burned my hair. It didn't have the 3 factors mentioned before, but I didn't do my research before hand on the internet. Down the road I may end up just purchasing the GHD, but again, I would have to buy 8 cheaper ones and I don't think I will have buy 8 of these over time.

I bought this appliance because it received good reviews. Well I used it three times and the coating from the inside started flaking off. It would stick to my hair and was a pain to remove. Once the coating comes off, it doesn't slide down the strands smoothly and will pull at your hair.I won't buy this brand again. I guess you get what you pay for.

Not good quality,

I bought this flat iron knowing that I wouldn't be getting the "best" quality since I was only paying $19.99, but I've only had it for about 2 1/2 weeks (using it once a day) and the coating on the plates has already begun to chip off. Not good! It's done a good job of straightening my hair, but given its quality issues, I can't recommend it.

Mediocre Flat Iron,

This flat iron is mediocre. It does its job. When I bought it last year, it was only $22.00. I don't think it's worth the $6 increase. It still works, and it heats up fairly quickly. Don't expect it to beautify your hair. Mine still works after a year of light use. I've probably only used it less than 20 times. A tiny bit of the coating of the iron part has flaked off--like half a centimeter in diameter.

This review is from: Andis 67175 Tourmaline Nano-Ceramic Clamp Flat Iron, 2 Inch (Health and Beauty)
Within 30 days of buying, the paint is coming off of the inside. This means the paint comes off on my daughter's hair. Unsafe! Don't waste your time on this unit, very POOR quality.

No its outstanding but it gets the job done. I had a chi and had a problems with the lack of heat settings, This one has 20 heat settings but its highest is not as hot as the chi which I like but other people might not. The black coating started to chip after about 3 month and once that happens it begins to snag on your hair. I'm about to retire it and get another one with no coating so that I don't have to worry about chipped coating. But I will miss the fact that it's soooo pretty.

Died on the third day!,
This review is from: Andis 67340 Nano Ceramic Clamp Flat Iron, 1 Inch (Health and Beauty)
I had got this in the mail, and i used it for the first three days, and it was great! Then on the fourth day it took an hour to heat up and even then it wasn't full heat. I had to use my sisters. Take my advice, don't buy this. If you really want to get a good straightener, go and buy a conair or revlon.
