This review is from: Andis 64121 Size-7FC Ultra Edge Detachable Blade (Misc.)
This length blade was recommended by a professional pet groomer. I have a Miniature Schnauzer mix dog and was having a problem using attachments on the #10 blade...still couldn't get that smooth look I wanted. Bought this blade and it is perfect...not too long and not too short a cut. This length blade is difficult to find in pet stores...they generally stock a #4FC (their longest cut blade) and a #5FC blade, and a #8FC blade, in addition to the stock #10 blade which comes with the trimmers. I also found that the store prices are slightly higher than found at Amazon.com (especially since you can qualify for free shipping).Great blade...love the AGC quick changeability of these type of blades. Since I trim 2 dogs and their coats require different length blades, I can change them in a snap without having to mess with screws, etc. This length blade is a good all-around blade...it leaves just enough hair on your dog without getting close like the #10 does, and you don't have to mess around with the attachments (which I find to be a pain really).

I bought this blade for clipping my Affenpinscher/Miniature Schnauzer mix. It was recommended by a professional dog groomer to have this size blade to trim my dog during the winter months. Otherwise, I use a 7FC during Spring, Summer, and Fall months...getting her coat a little closer, but not too short. The #10 with attachments just didn't do the trick. However, getting the appropriate blade works perfectly. When purchasing these blades, make sure you buy the "finished cut" type, thus named "FC". Otherwise, the basic #blade will give you a rougher cut...not a smooth finish to the coat like most dog owners want. I absolutely love the easy changeability of these type blades. What else is nice...they are compatible with the Oster brand trimmer as well (although I have an Andis and recommend it...quiet and well made, also recommended by a professional groomer). You won't find a better price for these blades than ordering them from Amazon.com. I have checked many sites and stores. Bottom line...great product!!!

This review is from: Andis Blade - Size 3 3/4" FC - Finish Cut 1/2" (Misc.)
The #10 blade is just too close a trim for my one dog, so I wanted his coat to be about 1/2 inch long all around. I was told by a professional groomer that the #3 is the longest blade that is available. When I saw this one, and that it left a 1/2 inch finished cut, I knew this was just what I needed. It is perfect. It works with the detachable head trimmers. It sure beats having to use the additional attachment combs on the standard #10 blade. The long combs on the attachments interfere with getting a close and smooth cut. This blade eliminates having to use the attachments, and it didn't get hot at all, even after trimming for 20 minutes. This is a good purchase. I also highly recommend the seller. The turn-around time was very fast.

This blade works great for a longer field cut. I have used it on my two Aussies. Cuts like butter when used with the Andis 22360 AGC clippers. Does a great finish cut, highly recommend.Andis 22360 AGC Super 2-Speed Professional Animal Clipper with Locking Blade

I have a golden retriever with very thick hair, to help him be cooler this summer we decided to shave it. This length blade did a great job, just the right length and our dog loved his new summer look!

We have 2 Springer Spaniels which need grooming regularly. This blade combined with their clipper does a quick job which looks pretty good for my talents. These dogs have wavey fur and they end up with matts close to their skin under their ears and along their back legs. This blade/groomer combination removes these easily. It also does their feet nicely. These pups didn't like the cheap clippers with the plastic guides, but don't mind these. Probably due to much less fighting with the clippers getting plugged and no more pulling to clear the darn things.

Best blade ever for our use,
This review is from: Andis 64121 Size-7FC Ultra Edge Detachable Blade (Misc.)
This "skip tooth" blade was recommended by a professional groomer. One of our dogs is a Lab/Chow mix and has the most difficult hair to clip since he has a really thick undercoat. I have been through 3-5 other clippers that I ended up selling at garage sales simply because they would not do the job and the blade they came with was good for a one time shave for this particular dog. With the Andis UltraEdge Clipper Blade Size 7, I have shaved him now twice and recently shaved another of our dogs (boy was HE mad!!!) I won't shave HIM again. Although he was perfect and sat well for me, after losing his hair to this blade, he barked and barked at me. I got the message already! Our Lab/Chow mix though loves the shaved experience. I made his tail look like a lions at the end and he prances about thinking he is really something. I did not leave the lion-look "mane" though since he is too hot most of the time anyway and the mane look would have only added to his body heat. I can't say enough good things about this blade. It is really what I should have been using all along but just never knew. At any rate, this is the blade ones should invest in for dogs who have really thick fur and a thick undercoat as well. Top notch. P.S. Don't forget to use the cool spray also. It REALLY makes a difference in being able to use the blade without needing to stop many times to allow for cooling. Also, with the cool spray, you need not worry that you will burn your dog's skin while shaving. We want to keep the experience a good one for our dogs so as not to have an unhappy dog whilst trying to shave them the next time. |
