I cannot comment on the life of these clippers as I have just purchased my set not a week ago. UPDATE: Purchased 01/2006 and still going strong 06/2014

I can, however, comment on the quality of the cut. I have extremely sensitive skin and have had to endure the shadow look on my face for a few years as I have left the razor behind and moved to beard and mustache trimmers, but none of them have been able to get as close to a razor as the Andis T-Outliner has. I use it on my head and face and people have begun to doubt my sensitive skin excuse as the quality of the cut looks to be of razor quality. I also dont have to worry about the bumps that would normally appear when a cut is this close.

I have already purchased another set of these as they were on sale as well as some machine oil. NEVER FORGET TO OIL YOUR CLIPPERS. The fate of my beard and mustache trimmers was grim because I didnt oil them as regularly as I should have. I am glad for it now, but imagine how much longer than 4yrs they would have lasted if I had taken proper care of them.

UPDATE: It's been 5 years now and I still own this same set of clippers. Once, they stopped working, but it turned out that the screw on the side had changed positions and needed readjustment. After that, everything was fine. I did go through a bunch of clipper heads in the beginning, until I learned how to properly clean and care for them. The clipper head I have now is over 2yrs old and just as sharp as the day I purchased it. As for that second set I got (my 'just in case' set), I keep it in my shave bag for when I travel.

Once again, you wont regret this purchase. In fact, you'll only do yourself a disservice by not getting them.

I love Andis and this was to be my 3rd new clipper in 10 years. They stand the test of time and this clipper in particular is worth it's weight in gold....That is why I was extremely disappointed when it seemed as if I was sent used clippers when I was under the impression I bought new ones. It looked brand new, but when I turned it on it sounded like a loose screw was bobbling about inside the clipper. On examining I did indeed see a missing screw and now I feel like I've been had. I want to return and get a "new" Andis T-Outliner but don't want to pay shipping. I don't think I should be responsible for that do you? Still in need of "NEW" Clipper....

Sold me a USED not New Trimmer as stated. The trimmer smelled as thought it had burned up and was then later repaired. Very hard to get a burned smell out of something. I got my trimmer in the mail and right away noticed that the packaging was suspect. There wasn't even a piece of tape holding the top or bottom flap of the box together. When I picked it up I noticed part of the metal holder that holds the blade on was broken on one side. There was no extra blade at all in the box and no product registration card. There was a trimmer and a 1/2 tube of oil. The plastic bag containing the trimmer was not sealed. The blade was also was scratched. One of the screws holding in the blade was somewhat clearly worn as though the blade had been taken off numerous times.This is clearly a used Trimmer and not New. Who is refurbishing these things and selling them full price to amazon who then sells it to me? Photo enclosed.

I have owned these clippers for nearly a year. They cut just as precisely now as they did when I bought them new. The wide blade is very nice and requires less strokes. I use these clippers about once a week to clean up my fade/blowout. They cut really thin, as thin as the barbers, only they will not cut razor thin. I have yet to see anything that does cut razor thin besides a razor. These clippers are the closest you can get to a barber chair for your home. I am so sold on the quality of this brand/line that I just purchased the "Improved Master Clippers" to accompany my "T-Outliner". It set me back a hundred bucks but if it is at all like the T-outliner than I will be extremely happy. You get what you pay for and oh yes, don't forget to keep them oiled!

I bought this Andis T Outliner in May 2015 on the recommendation of my barber here in Jamaica and positive customer's reviews on Amazon. For the first two months it worked almost perfectly except for the noise. But today August 9, 2015 I was shaving and all of a sudden it stop working. I had to use a old shaver to finish shaving. My investigation revealed that the small metal that connect to the inside blade is broken which suggest poor workmanship and inferior material. Had I not been in Jamaica I would have returned it immediately. Extremely Dissapointed

I've used the product on my very sensitive face, waited three days to see if any bumps were to appear. And the results were satisfactory.

Time shouldn't be wasted on issues that science has already found a solution to.

This item was defective and does not work well. The motor does not work well and the blade is also not good quality. I have owned many Andis T-Outliner's and they are my favorite outliner. I have been a barber for almost 20 years and I know how to adjust my blade, That is not the issue. Not sure if the item was an imitation or I just got a lemon, but I am not happy with my purchase at all. Very disappointed.
