IGNORE NEGATIVE REVIEWS: Works well with Dragon!, January 21, 2011
This review is from: Andrea Headsets Bluetooth Noise Cancelling Monaural Head (Accessory)
I'm not sure what the other users are complaining about while using Dragon Naturally Speaking; I almost didn't buy this wireless microphone because of the negative reviews but decided to get a wired headphone as well to compare their accuracy. I'll probably return the wired headset when it arrives because this one has exceeded all my expectations.
I was willing to take the risk because I work with clients in online multi-media sessions; think Skype, but with a digital whiteboard I can draw on. Having the ability to walk around my office while talking--and not tripping over cords or yanking my ear off--was my base goal in buying this headset. In that regard, it is phenomenal: the sound quality is great when paired with the included USB Bluetooth adapter, and the installation and pairing was incredibly easy to set up. In terms of sound quality, my clients can't tell the difference between this headset and the corded one I had before... and no one has ever complained about either. With the adapter, I can walk about 20 feet away with no noticeable change in sound quality.
As a secondary goal, I tested this headset with my iPhone 4.0. You could definitely use it for that purpose while driving or otherwise needing your hands free. I still prefer the iPhone's included earbuds, but I understand why you would want something wireless in the car. The voice control for the iPhone worked perfectly after syncing, even recognizing difficult foreign names and prompting me for different numbers to call if I had multiple entries for a contact.
However, the main thing that makes me give this product a 5-star review is that it absolutely works for speech-to-text software. I'm not sure what the other reviewers were doing with their headset--maybe not using the included USB Bluetooth adapter or not placing the microphone close enough to their mouth?--but I have had ZERO issues with Dragon taking dictation while using this headset. The software itself is working great on my tablet PC, and I love being able to walk around my room while dictating my blog, emails, and memos. I'm still working on learning how to use the software itself, but thus far this microphone has been a great addition to the product's usability.
Since my experience was so different from the other users, I even tried to dictate in a CalTrain station while a train was on the track across from mine: same results with great accuracy. These military grade noise-cancelling claims aren't exaggerated. I truly think the other users were using a different product or using it incorrectly, which is why I'm taking the time to write this review.
My only knocks on the headset are that it starts to wear on my ear after an hour's session with a client. There are different ear pieces that might address this, but the one that fits best to prevent the headset--and feels fine for about 30 minutes--starts to hurt after an hour's session with a client.
I haven't tried to use the headset on lengthy drives where I can't charge it, so I can't really speak to its battery life as a limiter on types of use. I have a couple of client sessions a day at most, dictate maybe an hour, and rarely use it with my iPhone. For those purposes, the charge is more than adequate; my only complaint is that it takes a full two hours to charge from a proprietary USB cable. Annoying, but not a deal breaker.
The headset looks just fine, as long as you're OK with the extended microphone. That design is crucial for the voice recognition software, though, and helps get the absolute best sound quality for recording. I'm fine with the slight trade-off in look for significantly better quality, and I've seen people walking on the street with far worse headsets on.
Overall, the product is amazing for ~$50. Great buy, and for my use pattern, means I can return the corded headset I got as a safeguard.

Outstanding, January 2, 2011
This review is from: Andrea Headsets Bluetooth Noise Cancelling Monaural Head (Accessory)
Noise cancellation is second to none. In very unscientific testing while driving on the freeway, the Andrea BT-200 blew away every other headset tested. I am familiar with the company's technology in audio electronics and that's what prompted me to try them out. I am glad that I did.
It is one of the most comfortable headsets around while still staying secure and not giving that "wobble" feeling. The added USB Bluetooth adapter works under Win 7 without any additional drivers or software needed. This addition makes the BT-200 an exceptional value.

Software desactualizado, February 11, 2011
This review is from: Andrea Headsets Bluetooth Noise Cancelling Monaural Head (Accessory)
