Way too busy and confusing. Went to her website and it's no longer in existence. What's that all about?

Being a real Andrea Immer fan (her book is the best to learn about wine) this book makes the perfect companion to take when purchasing or ordering at the restaurant.

Not only are over 400 wines commonly found on wine lists and at retail establishments, but the other helps here on so right on! There is "Best of Lists" "Immer's Top Picks" "The Top 50 Wines You're Not Drinking" "Immersion Course" and "Kitchen Fridge/Countertop Survivor".

She brings the confusing world of wine down to ordinary people level in her book and now in this practical wine tool. What I love the best about this is her suggestions, e.g. "You're Invited--Inimpeachable Bottles to Bring to Dinner" and "What to drink with Mexican Food."

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Wine Book, August 7, 2002
This review is from: Andrea Immer's Wine Buying Guide for Everyone (Andrea Robinson's Wine Buying Guide for Everyone) (Paperback)
What's good about this book is that a lot of the wines in it are in stores so you can compare the book to what you are about to purchase. It's great that the book is narrowed down to only 400 of the best selling wines in the U.S. I LOVED the categories for best wines for pizza, picnics and other everyday dining experiences. This book is indispensable for anyone who likes to buy good wine for less than fifteen dollars a bottle.

5.0 out of 5 stars The wine buying guide for me, July 23, 2002

Finally, a book that makes it easy to select wine. All I want is a list of what tastes good for a good price - this book is it.

The wines are ranked by price AND value for the money. I've gotten several selections and they have all been great. Believe it or not, there are wines that go with Mexican and Chinese food. I don't waste money at the wine store any more. Great Job.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best guide for everyday wines you can buy, April 15, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Andrea Immer's Wine Buying Guide for Everyone (Andrea Robinson's Wine Buying Guide for Everyone) (Paperback)
Andrea Immer, unlike certain other wine critics, focuses on what you can actually find in stores and what most people can afford to spend on a bottle of wine. For that she should be thanked. She rarely misses the mark with her reviews and all are concise and helpful. You won't find the finest wines in the world from this book but you will find a constant stream of good to very good wines that will fit every party, wine tasting, or any meal you might care to plan. Buy wines from this book and you will not be disappointed. How refreshing to have a non-pretentious American wine critic. Bravo.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good basic information, May 24, 2002
This review is from: Andrea Immer's Wine Buying Guide for Everyone (Andrea Robinson's Wine Buying Guide for Everyone) (Paperback)
For a novice like myself I found this very helpful. The book contains plenty of the wines that you will find in your local grocery store and their wine "rankings". If your more interested in how international wines compare to American wines then you will have to look elsewhere. Some, but not a significant amount of information about matching wine with food. There are plenty of rankings if you like those things, and some good overall information on wine, not just taste. There are some good tips on ordering wine at restaurants(which I think was well done).

I found this book to be informative and user-friendly. The writing is clear and easily accessible to the novice wine buyer, yet it also provides an abundance of information for even the most sophisticated palate. Keep it in the car for all those last minute wine buying sprees!

My friends couldn't put this book down during a wine party we hosted. It is a quick, easy and fun reference tool when chatting about wines and looking for quick notes on them. Bring this and a bottle of wine Andrea rates in this book to a housewarming and you will be a hit at the party!
