4.0 out of 5 stars This is the best of the crop, June 18, 2000

This review is from: Andree Putman (Paperback)
Many celebrities asked Andrée Putman to create a new interior for them. Mainly in New-York and in Paris. This book gathers a lot of reviews you might have read in a slightly different form in magazines such as Architectural Digest or Interiors. Nothing original. it's just a comprehensive look at Putman's global work.

5.0 out of 5 stars The great master of French (Post) Modern Architecture and late 20th Century design !, February 1, 2010
By
This review is from: Andree Putman (Hardcover)
This lovely 1997 monograph is the new, extended and updated first North American Edition in English of Andrée Putman architectural works.

Magnificently produced and researched, this volume survey all the projects of that great French architect and designer. Included is the innovative interior spaces of "Le Musée de la Gare d'Orsay" on the Left Bank in Paris.

Handsomely designed by Michael Phillips for The Overlook Press, the book is lavishly illustrated with 236 Illustrations, including 230 in full colors.

This First American Edition is translated from the French by Sue Rose, based on the 1993 texts of the French Edition.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good reference book, June 15, 2001

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Andree Putman (Paperback)
The book was divided into various chapters. The introduction was allocated to describe Andree's childhood, how her inspiration came by, how she channelled her relentless energy into creating masterpieces subsequently. Then, the book gets into business right-a-way with illustrations (with descriptions) of hotels, showrooms, offices, museums, restaurants, shops, galleries, apartments, cinema, editions & licenses (for products). The final 3 chapters were collaborators, credits, index. For Andree's enthusiasts, I'm sure this book would appeal but for those readers who want to be behind the scene, trying to understand in-depth of the thinking & designing process, then, this book is no more than a eye candy book which might disappoint.
