When I first heard this, I thought I was hearing Vicente Gomez, not Andres Segovia. This is both a credit to Gomez' masterful talent as a composer and to Segovia's deeply satisfying interpretation. If you are a fan of 1940's "Blood and Sand" starring Tyrone Power, you will recognize some of these songs which were composed and played on the movie's sound track by Vicente Gomez. This is an album for lovers of solo virtuoso Spanish guitar composed by one of the often overlooked masters of the medium, and performed by another true great. The music here is a rich brew of rythmn, melody, harmony, happiness, sadness, fire, and serenety emanating from the hands of a genius.
