5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, Easy to play!
If you by chance are hoping to sing a number from "Phantom of the Opera", or maybe you want to learn how to play "Don't Cry for me Argentina" on the piano, than this is the book for you. This book and it's second volume come complete with vocals and the musical notes. A must buy for performer and andrew Lloyd Webber fans!

3.0 out of 5 stars Good overview once you get past the fluff
I am not much for fluff, and the glossy, heavy paper, along with the pretty full-color photos are just money and space wasted where more songs could have been. However this is a good selection of ALW's work, and is especially valuable to the soloist.

5.0 out of 5 stars Comprehensive Sample of Webber's earlier work, March 7, 2006

This review is from: Andrew Lloyd Webber Anthology (Paperback)
This is an excellent sampling of much of Webber's earlier works - published in 1988, it obviously doesn't include music from later productions, such as "Sunset Boulevard", "Aspects of Love", "Bombay Dreams" or "Woman in White". As a result, this anthology showcases some of Webber's lesser-known (but still absolutely brilliant) songs, such as "Take That Look Off Your Face" and the title song from "Tell Me On a Sunday", "Herod's Song" (an absolute treat for the pianist who enjoys rag) from Jesus Christ Superstar"; "There's Me" from "Starlight Express". This volume also includes some of his biggest hits from "Phantom of the Opera" and "Evita". This book is a great buy if you want to learn the best songs from each show, and don't want to be bothered to buy the book from each show to just get one or two songs.

This is also a great book for intermediate-advanced piano students who want some "modern" music to supplement their regular music books. The various musical styles represented in this book really complement a traditional course of study in the piano. My parents bought me this book when I was 12 (14 years ago) to use as "extra" assignments for my piano lessons, and I ate it up and learned every single song in the book. I still use it now, even though I have to be careful with it (I've loved it so much that the pages are starting to come loose).

This review is from: Andrew Lloyd Webber Anthology (Paperback)
Andrew Lloyd Webber is a brilliant composer and playwright. If you love singing or playing broadway music, than this book is for you. From slow songs like Unexpected Song and Wishing you Were Somehow Here Again to more upbeat songs like Take That Look Off Your Face and Jesus Christ Superstar, this book covers almost all of his musicals and is absolutly wonderful!
