Fantastic!!,
This review is from: Andrew Lloyd Webber: The Premiere Collection Encore (Audio CD)
Andrew Lloyd Webber is without doubt one of the greatest composers of the 20th century (and I'm sure well into this current century too.) His music appeals to everyone, young and old. There surely cannot be many people who are not familiar with his 'Phantom' and 'Evita' music. This compilation is a wonderful follow-up to the last 'Premiere Collection' album. Highly recommended to everyone who loves music, lyrics and singers of the highest quality.

This CD has the best selections form "Aspects of Love," "The Phantom of the Opera," and "Joseph and the Technicolored coat. Many pieces sung by talented singers who you would not be able to experience in a regular musical soundtrack.

Some wonderful music. . .,

. . .but not as good as the first "Premiere Collection".Andrew Lloyd Webber has, without a doubt, completely re-written the rules for enormous Broadway musicals and Rock Operas. I strongly suspect that he will be one of the few composers of the 20th century still remembered in the 22nd century. This album has some wonderful tracks on it, both from Lloyd Webber's earlier shows, and from some of his later efforts. Some of my favorites: Amigos Para Siempre -- written for the Olympic Games in Barcelona Love Changes Everything -- from "Aspects of Love" Argentine Melody and The Jellicle Ball (two instrumental offerings) Hosanna -- from "Requiem" HOWEVER, I was disappointed by some of the other offerings: I don't like Barbara Streisand's version of Memory from "Cats". This song belongs to Elaine Paige. End of story! I didn't care for the offering from "Starlight Express" either. And, much as I love "Jesus Christ, Superstar", Everything's Alright is not improved by Sarah Brightman. Yvonne Elliman owns this one! This being said, the album is still a positive addition to any collection of Lloyd Webber music.

Has no one else noticed that on the version of this CD produced in Scarborough, Ontario, Canada "Past the Point of No Return" from "The Phantom of the Opera" is NOT Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman? The male is obviously Colm Wilkenson (most famous for originating the role of Jean Valjean), apparently the soprano is Rebecca Caine?

Even Better than the Original,

This anthology is definately better than the original Premiere recording. Here we get the star who were famous for the part they are performing. On the original collection, Phantom of the Opera was sung by someone I had never heard of and the tone and atmosphere were all wrong. I am pleased to say that here we get performers who are established in the role or are well-known for including the song in shows or other recordings. I love "Amigas para siempre," "Hosanna," and all the others. I find it fascinating that we get two Josephs fot the price of one. Not only can we compare the merits of Donny Osmond and Michael Damian, but two others as well

Music to make you happy!,

I have had this CD for a couple of years now. When I am having a "not so good" day, I put it on. It only takes a few bars of the 1st track before my mood starts lifting. By the end of "Love Changes Everything" (track 2), I am singing along and have generally forgot all about how bad the day was, even after being on my feet for 8hours+ at the hospital. I would recommend this CD to anyone who wants to get a lift and leave the troubles of the day behind. Get lost in Andrew Lloyd Webber's wonderful music!

This better-than-the-original follow up to The Premiere Collection contains selections from all of the same shows plus Aspects of Love and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Only the song Memory is repeated from the first compilation, but here it is performed by Barbra Streisand (from her album Memories). Sarah Brightman's Everything's Alright (from Jesus Christ Superstar) is easily my favorite recording of that song and one of the highlights of this compilation, as is her Anything But Lonely (from Aspects of Love). As single-disc compilations of Andrew Lloyd Webber's work go, this is one of the best.

Loved this c.d.
Streisand's rendition of MEMORY has always been my favorite version of the song outside of the show...Betty Buckley's is my favorite within the show. I am a Streisand afficiando, and this is my FAVORITE Streisand song period..so it must be good... Michael Ball singing anything is wonderful...It captures the wonderful feeling of being on a cloud when you listen to this album
