An OK tool kit
on November 22, 2012
My interest in watch collecting has grown tremendously over the past month or so, and as a result, so has my inventory. I have a number of watches that need links in the bracelets removed as well as some older quartz timepieces that need replacement batteries. I figured I would save some money by investing in this tool kit in hopes that it would pay for itself in just a few sessions. Please note that I had never attempted any of the before mentioned maintenance so I am definitely considered a novice. I've only attempted one link removal task thus far and it went successfully. My only complaint was that I broke one of the prongs on the small end of the spring bar removal tool. I'm not certain if this was a quality issue with the tool itself or if it was a user error, maybe by applying too much force.
The zip-up case is nice and keeps all of the tools organized. There are some very basic instructions that are included. Nothing that will walk someone through step-by-step maintenance, but does have some descriptions for what each tool is used for. This was a nice starting point for a novice like myself. We'll see if the kit continues to serve me well as I work on the other pieces in my collection. If I can squeeze out another couple of link removals and/or battery replacements, I'll be satisfied to know that it paid for itself before looking for other, better tool kit options.
