Hi, Tab 2 at one time was Ice Cream back about 6 months ago or so. The updates from the manufacturer/From The Box came out a few months after that. I got my update notice on my Galaxy Note 10.1 in the 3rd week of Jan-2013. If it wasn't for Jelly Bean, I would have returned my Samsung Note 10.1 that had Ice Cream. Jelly Bean fixed a lot of bugs and non user friendliness issues. Even if it came with Ice Cream, you can quickly download the update. This is not an issue. I've been through a lot of tablets and returns there of, and I've posted with Amazon my experience and technical issues with them...my recommendation? I would go with the Note 10.1... I have no doubt. I love the stylus, it works a lot better then my fingers... and less fingerprints. Jelly Bean fixed a lot of issues. Tab 2 has big discounts, but people are sucking up the Note 10.1 and you still get get a good discount with with the Note 10.1. Your choice of course. The version I have with my Note 10.1 is 4.1.2 Jelly Bean.
Thanks for your responses to this question. I am specifically looking for Samsung Tab 2 10.1 not the Samsung Note 10.1 (They are different devices and costs) I guess I will figure out when I get mine and poke around the device to find out what ships by default but from the looks of it it could be Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich for most users from Amazon (Thanks for your responses). Having said, this page on Samsung states clearly says , Jelly Bean of some sorts see: http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/galaxy-tab/GT-P5113TSYXAR
I will find out sooner or later if I can upgrade via OTA to Android 4.2, Jelly Bean and post the results to the Amazon community.
