The Barnes and Noble Tablet is woefully lacking in useful apps and to turn it into a useful tablet you have to "root" it to an Android tablet. This little SD card does just that and does so without voiding the guarantee. Once you've booted it into Android you just "register" the device with B&N and Kindle via the pre-loaded Nook and Kindle apps and you have access to all your books from both sites. There are sooo many advantages to rooting your tablet and I won't go into them here. I took away 1 star from my review of this wonderful little SD card because it came with absolutely no instructions. Initially it didn't work, I powered down the tablet by holding the power off key for several seconds, inserted the card and powered up the tablet---- and it came up in the Nook mode. After several failed attempts I logged onto a nooktoandroid forum and found an entry that said to try powering up the tablet with the charger attached. I did this and it now comes up as an android device. For the totally clueless user (I'm not totally clueless, I just play one in real life) this little tidbit should have been included with the card along with 7 or 8 other instructions. No big deal but it would prevent some of those shouting reviews like "I INSERTED IT AND IT DIDN"T WORK! I WANT MY MONEY BACK!! IT MUST BE THE FAULT OF THOSE DASTARDLY LIBERALS!"

I have used the AFN CM7 card for three months and found it to be a great product. It puts the Nook Tablet into a whole new realm of use and functionality. Dean, the owner of AFN, is always there to provide on-line help and assistance. AFN also has a web page/forum user page with daily discussions about new apps and problems. The forum posts are much more practical than what you see on other Android forum pages.
I own an Asus T300 and Toshiba Thrive but spend most of my time on the Nook Tablet with the AFN CM7 card. There is very little to screw up. You can save the system images to your computer, write the image to a new microSD card, and swap apps in an out. Android tablets have many quirks and an AFN card is the fastest way to learn the system without messing up the tablet. Rather than root the tablet (which can end up bricking the tablet), the AFN card acts as an independent Android system from which the tablet boots and holds apps. You have the best of both worlds --- the B&N Nook and the Android system side-by-side.

AFN sells dual boot microSD cards for the following Android operating systems: Cyanogen Mod 7 stable(CM7), Miui (2.2.3) or Phiremod ver 7.2. The cards come in 8gb, 16gb and 32gb sizes. The Nook Color and Nook Tablet require different Android systems - be sure you order the right card for the right tablet. Check out the AndroidforNook.com web page.

The product is a steal and the service fantastic.

The mirco SD card worked to my satisfaction. I liked the idea that I can now order e-books through Amazon. I feel like I have the best of both Barns an Nobel and kindle.

This is a great product for those who want to use their Nook Tablets to do more than just read books and live within Barnes & Noble's world. The product is easy to use and the service provided by Android for Nook is the best I've experienced. Highly recommend this product,

I cannot say enough about this item. Easy to install even though the instructions looked hard...they are step by step and installed without any issues. I have thoroughly enjoyed having the best of both worlds...Android for Nook...opens up new worlds. Good product would recommend and have recommended to others that have a nook the joy I have had by installing Android for Nook...thank you....

This is awesome. I got a Nook for Christmas - cool, it's a neat hardward platform...but not all of the books I want to see are on it. Install the bootable micro SD card and instant Android tablet. Next step read Kindle books on it... The only step that I had to think about was that you have to have it completey off to boot from the card; that means you have to hold the power button in until it shuts all the way down. No problems at all; go back to the Nook any time you like but I doubt you will.

I have really enjoyed the AFN. It has given me a lot more options and opportunities to purchase books not offered by Barnes and Noble.
