Enjoyable Read,

This review is from: Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep: Dust to Dust Vol 2 (Paperback)
I enjoyed this book a lot more than I expected. The pace quickened up considerably and the ending was really well done & very surprising. A very enjoyable read & I'd recommend it to anyone who enjoyed Blade Runner.

Volume 2, indeed,
This review is from: Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? Vol 2 (Hardcover)
The second volume of this 6-volume series continues the story where volume 1 ended. It is indeed a quicker read than volume 1. Maybe volume 1 needed some weight in words to set the mood (although the graphics help a lot with this). Nonetheless, this allows for more action to take place and takes the reader through the world Philip K. Dick created.
Again, Tony Parker's illustrations set a perfect mood and set the scene very well. Adding an illustration of a city-scape from time to time really add to the realism of the story. Of course it's science fiction...but the images just make you wonder. Well done Mr. Parker! I've found this to be an interesting series from the beginning and I'm looking forward to reading the upcomming volumes!

There's no doubt that this is an excellent short novel and among Dick's best works, and I was excited by the prospect of seeing it in graphic novel form. While the art itself is indeed pretty good, I was hoping for something less obviously informed by Ridley Scott's Bladerunner, which most fans know is only loosely related to the novel. Readers expecting to see visual echoes of the film will not be disappointed, but I think it would have been a more fitting hommage to Dick's originality to see Tony Parker develop a correspondingly distinctive artistic vision. Despite this reservation I am enjoying the series and plan to buy future installments.
