The only buttons that worked from all screens on the remote were the power on/off, and settings buttons.

Received the Mini MK802 today. I attached power supply, USB dongle for a keyboard/mouse, HDMI cable attached to a flat screen and plugged it in. Booted right up, I clicked on settings, found my router and it attached first try. Documentation booklet is weak, but has basics. I've been running this non-stop for 6 hours no real issues found. It's a little difficult to use my mini keyboard/mouse for some functions, as my experiance with android is on a tablet only. It takes some getting used to doing similar swipe functions.

Unit does NOT have an ON/OFF switch. You must unplug to power off, but it does accept Ctrl-Alt-Del to reboot.

Previous reviews indicate the unit runs hot. That is NOT my case after 6+ hours of constant use.

So far so good.

UPDATE: 11/28/2012

After playing with the unit for a couple of days, I mounted it behind my 47" Vizio that's on the wall. My biggest concern was that this device would be running constantly 24/7 as I started to fish a power cord through the wall to supply power to the unit. Then a light bulb went off in my head. I took the supplied mini to full USB cable, plugged the mini side in the unit and the full side in my TV's USB port.

Now when my TV's is turned on the unit gets it power and boots up. When I turn the power to my TV off, the unit powers down. No need for the power supply.

I received my miniPC via USPS yesterday in great condition - it took just 7 days to ship from HK, China to the bay area here in California. I ordered the 1GB DDR3 ram version (Android settings say Model number AK-MINI-PC-001, Android version 4.0.3, Baseband 4.0.11, Kernel 3.0.8+, Build crane_risctek-eng 4.0.3 IML74K 20120608 test-keys)

After thumbing through the included manual, I plugged it in to my Samsung 27" TV and powered it up. In less than two minutes, I was at an Android 4.0 desktop home screen (running in 1920x1080 resolution). It connected to my WiFi AP on the first try and seems to pull decent speeds even though my router is on the other side of my house and most devices only get ~50% signal in this room.

Overall, the OS looks like it has some tweaks. It's configured as a tablet with the status/notification bar at the bottom of the screen. Volume up/down buttons have been added to the bar in addition to the default back/home/switcher icons that 4.0 comes with by default. It seems to want to lag out occasionally when opening new windows or tabs in a browser (tried stock browser and Firefox beta so far - both work decent).

I would highly recommend this device to anybody who likes to tinker with Android hardware. It appears to have massive potential as a low-cost internet TV device and I cannot wait to dive into the software to start customizing it.

i have a patriot media player. This one is 1/3 the cost and i thought that I would try it. The media player arrive 11 days from China to my house.

This thing plays everything a patriot media player plays and more. There was one file that I test that does not play on my patriot media player but it plays on this one. But, Unlike the patriot, this one is made out of very light plastic case and looks flimsy. But it's not a big deal as long as it works. The good thing is that this one has buttons on top of the media player. I tested it and I was able to browse and navigate thru the files without the remote YEAH!!!. The patriot and the asus media player basically becomes useless without the remote. This one still works without the remote. A big plus.

The remote has all the buttons that i needs like ff, rev, play, pause, stop, zoom, etc.... it is a full function remote.

The manual is practically useless. I cannot understand a darn thing out of that manual. It looks as if it was originally written in chinese and then ran thru a free on-line english translator. Bad grammar that one could not understand.

I'm basing this 5 star review on what this product does for my needs, I only use the USB portion and HDMI to TV to watch movies and shows I've downloaded and it works perfectly for that. I've not used the SD card options because I don't need it for that. For the past year or so I've been hooking my laptop up to my TV every night to watch my downloads. I was pretty certain VLC was the only thing that could play every file type so I had been hesitant to buy a media box. So far I've tested this box with AVI's, MKV's and MP4. It works flawlessly, the remote is awesome. I don't have to use the laptop mouse as a remote (nor use my belly as a mousepad while I'm laying in bed). So basically I got this box so I could put my movies and shows on a USB, then watch them on my TV and it does that. Done deal, I love it and I ordered another one for my living room. I've only had this for a short time, I'll update this review if anything should go wrong with it. The little manual it comes with is "engrish" at its finest. If you're NOT the type who can figure out basic electronics without an instructional manual then skip this.

Some more little notes...The remote takes 2 AAA batteries (not included), it comes with a 3.5mm to 3-prong RCA w/ video cable which I didn't use since I hooked it up via HDMI (I provided my own HDMI cable, it does not come with one). The wall plug for it sits sideways so it won't hog up space on your power strip or outlet. The FF and RW are not smooth transitioning when watching things from a USB, it works but jumps from scene to scene every 3 seconds.
