3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting, but nothing new here...
Andy Andrews is an engaging speaker that has read many biographies of famous people and found 7 common threads in their lives. He shares them with you in this DVD while sharing some interesting stories of famous people. Although inspirational, there are no surprises here. It probably would be more powerful to see him in person.

I have seen and heard them all - from Norman Vincent Peale to Zig Zigler to Wayne Dyer et al - but Andy Andrews is much different. He is far more than a "motivational speaker" - he is every bit a philosopher, a modern day Mark Twain. Like Twain, Andy makes the obvious startling and what you think you already know, well, NEW! I am older than Andy and have, through coincidence, study and self-examination, come to many of the same "decisions." But Andy made it all make sense to me in a grander way. If you listen to Andrews' presentation, your life *will* be better for it. He is a fascinating speaker and thinker. Taking a page from his presentation, I wish I could have him on MY Board of Directors! Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars This review is for the PBS release, December 9, 2005
This review is from: Andy Andrews - The Seven Decisions (DVD)
I have not seen the full DVD, but saw an abridged version on PBS last week. It was wonderful. The seven principals Mr. Andrews presents are not anything you haven't heard before--but they're presented in an impactful way so that you digest them differently and perhaps more thoroughly than you may have. His speaking style is humorous enough to be engaging and entertaining, but serious enough that you never lose the meat of the message. This DVD package promises a lot of extras that weren't on PBS special--I'm looking forward to it and highly recommend it!

Andy Andrews is an engaging speaker that has read many biographies of famous people and found 7 common threads in their lives. He shares them with you in this DVD while sharing some interesting stories of famous people. Although inspirational, there are no surprises here. The 7 Decisions:

1. The Buck Stops Here - Take personal responsibility for where you are in your life.
2. Seek Wisdom - Educate yourself, and surround yourself with wise people to help you make wise choices.
3. Be a Person of Action - Be a courageous leader.
4. Have a Decided Heart - Make decisions and move forward, adjusting as necessary. Don't dwell on past mistakes and uncertainty.
5. Choose Happiness - No one wants to be around a whiner... be someone that others like to spend time with.
6. Forgive others - Forgiving others allows you to be free to move on and not dwell on the trespasses of others.
7. Persist - Persevere without exception. (This one I have a tough time with. I believe there has to be a point where the handwriting is on the wall. You can't just have whatever you want because of persistence. There are limits for your dreams, and recognizing them is something wise and educated people do.)

5.0 out of 5 stars If we lived by this and taught it to our children, we'd have a different world, March 20, 2008
This review is from: Andy Andrews - The Seven Decisions (DVD)
Yes, Andy Andrews' "Seven Decisions" are really positive thinking repackaged in a way (see Napoleon Hill's Keys to Success: The 17 Principles of Personal Achievement, Norman Vincent Peale: Three Complete Books: The Power of Positive Thinking; The Positive Principle Today; Enthusiasm Makes the Difference) But sometimes the packaging is very important (do you drink your milk from a glass or out of the gallon jug?)

This book is written in parable form, with stories that are sure to reasonate with anyone reading them. The style is so easy to grasp, so readable that I could not put this book down for a second. The Seven Decisions are basically to be grateful, to be courageous, to act decisively and to search out wisdom in our lives, but this book makes a big impression. At least it did for me. I keep a little card with Andy's precepts in my wallet so I can take it out from time to time and remind myself why I do what I do, and how I am to do it.

I would strongly recommend this book for parents to read to children as bedtime stories and at the dinner table or during quiet-time. And this is a book you could pull off the shelf year after year and remind the whole family about the concepts, then discuss how each of you are implementing them in your life. This alone would be a huge source of discussion for family dinner time conversation, so much more than "what did you do in school today."

The philosophy is such that it would not offend Christian, Buddhist, Hindu, Jewish or Muslim believers and that is key. This can be used by any person of faith, no matter what the faith because the principles are universally true.

While it is true that positive thinking, gratitude, and seeking wisdom are themes for so many books available today, I found Andy Andrews' book one of the best to start with. Once you are convinced positive thinking and changing your outlook on life is the way to true happiness, then you will find other rich resources. But none, I think, are more pleasant to read and any deeper than this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best., April 30, 2008
This review is from: Andy Andrews - The Seven Decisions (DVD)
The Seven Decisions is based on Andy Andrew's fantastic book, THE TRAVELER'S GIFT, which is one of those rare books that actually has the potential to change lives. If you've not read Traveler's Gift, stop what you're doing right now and order it. I even added a product link to make it easier for you to find it.

I'm serious! Go now and order the book! Then come back here and order this DVD, but read the book first. You'll get more out of the DVD that way.

There may be others out there who are better speakers, perhaps more 'dynamic' than Andy Andrews, but this guy is just plain likeable. He's the guy you wish lived next door. Andy comes off as a true friend and a genuine, caring man, and his message is extraordinary. Make these seven decisions a part of your everyday life and you'll see dramatic changes.

Some reviewers might say there's really nothing new here, and to some degree they would be correct. When it gets down to it, there really only one way to live right and make good life choices. No matter who is telling it, the message is always, at least, similar in substance. The difference comes in the delivery, and this is where Andy Andrews stands out. He connects with the audience like few speakers can ever do.

P.S. Don't forget to order the book! Here >>> The Traveler's Gift: Seven Decisions that Determine Personal Success

Having read the book [7 decisions] and used the material in a small group, I thought I had a good understanding of it, but this DVD took things to a new level. Good to watch and some good humor in it as well, would recommend it to anyone as an encouragement for their lives and to glean wisdom and insight into life and personal success.

I cannot remember how Andy Andrews came on to my radar, but what a magnificent teacher. Andy's personal experiences with the Seven Decisions weave authentic value he discovered through taking actions and their results. The seven lessons are things we are `aware' of - however Andy's differential is his powerful use of history - linear details that amaze and his magnificent humor. You will laugh through learning points in his dramatic wonderful delivery. I have gifted "The Seven Decisions" to several people. Hope is a big gift in Andy Andrews work, it really gets a "10".
