Cut-package set, August 24, 2003
This review is from: The Andy Griffith Show Box Set [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I was super bummed. No warning label. Be sure you know what you are getting before you pay for it, because this is not the full show (cuts out whistling on every video).
If you like Andy Griffith, but are too lazy to record them yourself and don't have big bucks. . . This is the set for you. However, bargan shoppers beware! I my mind this set is only worth half of what they ask because Earle Hagen's "The Fishing Hole" whistle was cut from the front of every episode. These come out of Entertainment Distributing, PO Box 22738, Eugene, OR 97402, and is actually copyright 1998 for Marathon Music & Video by Dastar. (Yah, no names I recognize.)
This kind of marketing / packaging must have started in the "evil 90's" to reduce cost and is becoming more common. Today we have the ability to buy half finished goods. I wish they would have advertised this on the box like they do on for nicotine or cholesterol. If I had noticed this sooner, I would have taken them back. It is important to be free and have more decisions, but it is just about a crime to keep people uninformed. :)

Too much tape?, December 1, 2001
By A Customer

I experienced problems with mine too - could it be that there is too much tape on this with all that episodes?
I've always noticed that long tapes don't work as well as shorter ones. This one worked OK - I had to send the first one back.
The REASON the music is not the original is ROYALTIES! The makers of this tape didn't want to have to pay royalties on the theme music for 10 episodes!

Great shows (of course!) but not so good video quality :(, May 30, 1999

Of course, the shows are the same great ones any Andy fan loves! But the music is NOT the original theme music, and the video quality looks like bad home copies. Had I known, I would have chosen a different set of Andy tapes to buy.
