This set was good, but I'm waiting for Paramount to release Andy Griffith on a per-season basis. I read that the entire Season 1 will be released October 12. The current Vol 1-4 set has some good episodes, but the quality of my set wasn't anything to write home about.

For less than ten bucks, you can't beat this DVD boxed set. It contains 4 DVD's, each featuring 4 of Andy Griffiths best or most popular shows. It's a great introduction to the pop classic that many of us grew up with in the 60's and early 70's.

You'll meet Andy Taylor - the best small town sheriff that ever was, along with the great cast of characters : Barney Fife - the zany, good-hearted deputy who usually stole the show, Opey Taylor - played by Ronny Howard - the adorable little red-headed average good boy, Otis Campbell - the town boozer who let himself in the town jail cell after every binge, and more.

While 16 shows is just an example of the greatness of The Andy Griffith Show, it is an excellent price and the sound and picture quality of the discs is good, making it well worth the few bucks it costs.

The Andy Griffith Show is a great classic sitcom but the DVD's in this set are just best of selections. I think you would do better to buy the complete season instead! Yes, complette seasons are now on DVD!
