1.0 out of 5 stars Ricky says don't do it!
I bought this board for my brother, Ricky, and he hates it. Ricky and his pal Steve skate at my mom's house every day. Thwy always looked up to Andy Mac until now because he's extreme and he drinks Sobe and Ricky and Steve are always looking to score a rush just like Andy Mac. Ricky was bummed because when he tried to do his favorite trick on the Andy Mac board...

This is an excellent board. First off, disregard the reviews that play this skateboard off as unworthy of their feet. The only reason someone would say this is if they were a spoiled brat that gets whatever $160 skateboard setup they desire, whenever they ask their rich parents. There is a point; If you are very picky, this is not your skateboard. It is a basic setup: The wheels are white polyurethane. The bearings (I assume are around ABEC 3) roll well, but don't spin for minutes when you spin the wheel with your hand. The deck itself is superb, and unless you have a size preference, it is a well constructed deck for any skill level. The picture on the bottom is pretty cool, but if you don't like it, paint it (that's what I did)! The metal that the trucks are made of seems to be mediocre, but they work and are probably no less efficient than any brand name trucks. The bushings provide excellent turning, and the kingpin is good (not that it really matters). The hardware is basic (anyone who sees that their hardware must be pink and have logos all over them is just too picky. So, it is a well rounded skateboard.
When at first seeing it on amazon for 40 dollars, I was skeptical. Over the past 6 years of skateboarding I have always went to my local shop for new parts and mini logo decks, so I have always figured that anything less than what is at U.S.S. is garbage. But I was in need of a new deck and skate shoes, and a Mini Logo alone would have costed me $40. So I took the chance of wasting my money and bought this skateboard. It came in 4 days (that is very fast for free shipping). So far I have no complaints with it and am so satisfied that if Amazon continues to sell this skateboard, I will buy! The only things I see to do in the future it upgrade to better bearings, but besides that I got a complete skateboard for 40 dollars. A good skateboard. So if you are in need for a new ride and are limited on money, buy this!

*Warning: After wearing out this board I tried to remove the nuts from the kingpin of the trucks included and found that they were made of cheap metal that strips. The washers below those nuts will also bend and become immobile. I had a hell of a time getting the two nuts off, so I recommend buying new hardware for this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well worth the price, September 22, 2006
This review is from: Andy Mac Zon Complete Skateboard (7.625 x 31.625) (Sports)
I hadn't skated for years (I'm now 30 and skated a lot as a teen) and when I went to a friend's house I was thrilled to see his new board. It was an element deck with Indy trucks and Bam wheels with swiss bearings. A sweet set-up that he paid about $130 for at a local skate shop. I took it for a spin and was amazed by how nice a ride it was. I had to have my own!! So I searched on the web for skateboards and found this. It entrigued me and I love a good deal, so I grabbed it. Here's my thoughts.

1 - Compared to my buddy's board, it's about 80% as cool. The trucks are a little more stiff and the wheels don't grip the road quite as well. The bearings don't spin quite as smooth, either. That said, this board is well worth the money, and rides nicer than any board I had when I was a kid. If I get to where I'm riding 3 or 4 times a week I'll probably replace the bearings and wheels, but everything else is pretty nice.

2 - Another review said the wheels are not polyeurethane. That's not true. They are.

3 - A review said it is harder to ollie than on nicer boards. I would agree with this. It doesn't have as much pop as my friend's board.

I see this as an excellent starter board that you can try out and see if you like skateboarding. After a while you'll want to upgrade. I remember when I started riding and I got some cheapo brand from a discount store. Those things look cool, but the wheels sucked so bad that I went flying every time I hit a crack in the road. This board does not have that problem.

If you're just starting to ride, or if you're a guy just looking to reminisce and cruise around this is definitely the board for you.

Thanks Andy Mac

5.0 out of 5 stars Great board for the price, November 2, 2005

This is a great beginner to mid level board - especially for the price. I've got news for all the purists out there dissing this board - most of the decks are manufactured by the same companies using the same technology. It's freakin' glued maple wood for crying out loud. These days, unless you're buying toy store junk, you're mostly paying for brand name. I've been skating since 1980 when I started with a weak little Nash board and then a Variflex from a toy store. Growing up, and even today, if you weren't some spoiled rich kid from the suburbs you rode crap boards until you could pull enough cash together for a decent deck. Then you would try and get your hands on some decent trucks and wheels (probably used). My friend got this board for his 10 year old and it's really a good board for the price. Solid construction and light with a nice snap. I ride an Element with Indy trucks and Spitfire wheels because I'm an attorney and I can afford to hook up a board anytime I want (I still don't live in the suburbs though). But when you're a regular kid you can't so this board is a great start. Big ups Andy - keep up the good work.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Christmas Surprise, December 6, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Andy Mac Zon Complete Skateboard (7.625 x 31.625) (Sports)
I bought this skateboard for a child on the angel tree at church who is 14 and wished for a skateboard. My own son who has a Blind skateboard from Vans skate park in California was actually a little jealous of this board. He and his little brother give it two thumbs way up! Thank you Amazon and Andy Mac for offering such a cool product at such a reasonable price. You have helped make a very special Christmas for someone in desperate need of one. Thanks again Amazon!

this board is awesome and it was a good board to start out on for my first skateboard and i could keep my balance on it very well. my friend spent $200 on his and it is only slightly better than the andy mac zon. i really enjoy this board and i hope others can too.

NOTE: last month this board was only $40, so i believe the price will continue to increase on the andy mac zon and eventually the sale price will be gone, get it while its cheap!

5.0 out of 5 stars great board, August 7, 2006
This review is from: Andy Mac Zon Complete Skateboard (7.625 x 31.625) (Sports)
It's an awesome starterboard, way better than what most of my skater buddies started out with. the trucks are phenomenol, in that you wont have to lean too hard in order to turn. the wheels have well greased bearings, so you won't find yourself falling forward, just because wheeels on your board suck. so in my opinion yeah, its well worth the price point fifty buck's!? you kidding me, that's as much as my buddies pay for thier decks. speaking of which on that same note, the time honored quote " you get what you pay for" kinda comes into play right here, you see the wheels are a bit bouncy and the board maplewood, same stuff that rolling pins are made out of so it's kinda heavy. but other than that great board great buy fifty bucks, ya can't lose.

4.0 out of 5 stars a great board for the price, March 16, 2007
This review is from: Andy Mac Zon Complete Skateboard (7.625 x 31.625) (Sports)
I just got this skateboard to add to my collection, and it is of good quality for the price. Clearly, my other board (element deck, indy trucks, powell wheels, bones reds bearings) is of higher quality, but then, the parts for that were around $120. This is a great skateboard for a beginner or someone who just wants another board - I got it because I wanted something a little narrower that had smaller wheels to practice flip tricks, but didn't want to spend a lot of money.

My only concern about this skateboard is that I'm not sure how long the trucks will hold up - they appear to be made out of pot metal or a similar low-quality material. They'll work for now, though, and if they break, I'll get a pair of Indy 129 lows to put on. Also, the axle nuts on mine need to be tightened - the wheels have room to slide back and forth (not by much, and not every wheel - about 0-2mm depending on the wheel).

Good things I've noticed about this product: The deck has decent "pop" to it, if not the best. The wheels are good and the bearings are decent - far better than what is found on your average "beginner skateboard" but nowhere close to the best possible. A good match for the board's quality and price. Also, I dig the artwork on the board - maybe not everyone will like it but I think it's boss.

In summary, this is a great skateboard for the price, and I would recommend it to anyone from "beginner" to "pretty good".

To tell the truth this is a decent ride. Good quality trucks, I even like the andy mac air logo on them although some say it's wheezed. This would be a great board for starters instead of something from target like that other guy said. But I have several boards and this is almost as good as some I've built from scratch for over a hundred dollars and this one is less than $50.

I was convinced by the review about this being the perfect board for a "30-year guy trying to recapture his childhood and get back into skating". I'm 29, and probably haven't skated since I was 13.

I wanted something other than those "sporting goods store" boards, but for a good price (under 50 bucks shipped), and this seemed to be perfect!

I couldn't be happier with this board! It rides great, has good control, and seems to be built very well. (Especially for the price.)

The first thing I did was to tighten up the trucks (you'll probably notice the board will seem "loose" or "wobbly" right out of the box). The only "upgrade" i've made to the board was some advice from another review--I added some 49mm Bones STF wheels. Man--what a difference!! The wheels it comes with are decent--don't get me wrong, but they were a little hard for my tastes. After slapping the STFs on it rides very smooth, and (even though it may be psychological) I can wheelie and 180 much, much, better. (On the downside though, 49mm is quite sensitive to small rocks and debri at low speeds(causing you to bail), so if you're a beginner and want to do a lot of street "crusing", you may want to go up to a 52-53mm size wheel).

My coworker brought in her brother's older Element board (complete with Element wheels) for me to compare against, and I honestly like the Andy Mac better. The Andy Mac is less "bouncy" and lighter (but again, the Element one I was comparing against may be outdated). I liked the element wheels a little better than the stock Andy Mac wheels at first, but now that I have the STFs, there's no comparison!

Andy Mac FTW!

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Andy Mac Zon Complete Skateboard (7.625 x 31.625) (Sports)
Well i have been skateboarding for a couple and i think the andy mac zon board is perfect for a person who is considering starting skating. I think if you have been skating for a long time you might want to make a couple changes to the board before you go out and rip. Otherwise i think it is a pretty good board
