5.0 out of 5 stars very cool record
I've been aware of Andy's talent since about 1983 when he first made it down to L.A. This record is truly a "record" of his progression - or journey - from straight ahead be-bopper through encounters with rock, fusion, pop, many ethnic or 'world' genres and on into his own eclectic thing. The musicianship, writing as well as production is top notch AND it's a double album...

1.0 out of 5 stars Waste of money
I first heard of Andy Suzuki while listening to Daniel Ho and also his band Kilauea. I loved his smooth sound and melodies. After looking up his name on the internet and noticing he had a CD out that I purchased. The CD is NOTHING like what I had previously heard him play. It is hard jazz with no melody and very stataco notes. Perhaps this is his style, but I also...

For those of you that are into his 'smoother' side, don't be put off by the first reviewer, there's plenty here for you. Check out "my Old Home" and "Babylon". If it's the more aggressive Andy Suzuki that you seek, you won't be disappointed either. Dig "Minor Rorschach" or "Pascal's Triangle".
If you're a fan of witnessing a musician come into his own, this is a disc for you.

No wonder this is his only CD, I doubt he has sold very many.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cool and modern jazz...wow !, April 7, 1999

This review is from: Andy Suzuki (Audio CD)
I've just heard about Andy Suzuki, actually I've just known him for 3 days since he's having a concert with David Benoit in my town (by the way I'm from Bandung, Indonesia). Anyway, the next day my friend borrowed me Suzuki's CD, and I just really love it ! I think it's cool and great and it's different from any other jazz song I've ever heard...I like his playing at the concert with David Benoit, and I like him even more in this acoustic CD...I really think you should get one copy of it..

Suzuki delivers a bonus with this wide selection of original jazz tunes, and offers something for every discriminating jazz lover's palate. His precise yet breezy execution is addictive, and his innovative approach to the entire jazz genre makes you want to play this double CD set over and over again. I really enjoyed this offering.

5.0 out of 5 stars A very tastefull blend of traditional and modern jazz., March 12, 1999

This review is from: Andy Suzuki (Audio CD)
Andy is a great composer and has a very distinctive sound on the sax. The acoustic CD is a great blend of traditional jazz with a modern sound. The electric CD really grooves and is equally enjoyable. Highly recommended!!!!
