About the Author
Tomie dePaola is one of the most popular children's book authors and illustrators of our time. His humor, insight, and gentle art delight all readers. I am currently involved with teacher training in the area of reading. I have been trained through the Aft's ER&D Program in Early Reading Intervention. In this module, teachers reflect on the research on phonemic awareness and how this impacts reading instruction. One of the skills we share with teachers is a strategy called "Word Building". When I saw "Andy: That's My Name" I knew this would be a perfect book to use in my workshops. Teachers really enjoyed the book and I know we will continue to use it in our workshops. It shows children that making words can be fun! Great book!

Little Kids Mean A Lot,

"Andy" by Tomie De Paola is perfect if you are teaching reading through Phonics. Excellent for the emerging reader, English as a Second Language student or just a fun one on one read aloud with a younger child. This a cute and straight forward story.
The pictures are engaging and the vocabulary is simple. This book will make you smile everytime you read it.
