Unexpected Warhol,

Warhol's cover for the first Velvet Underground album is famous. Same for the album with the real zipper he made for the Stones' Sticky Fingers lp. This book shows that Warhol made a lot of less spectacular, but still great record covers before and after. For me the jazz and classical lp covers he did were a big and pleasant surprise. The book gives all the background information you'd want, which makes this a great book for cover lovers and for art lovers. Perfectly printed in a size just a bit smaller than the actual covers.

I thought i had most of the Andy Warhol LP's in my collection until I got this book. Amazing pictorial and beautiful book. Now it will take me another 10 years to get the other half. Brilliant!!

When is a Warhol record cover not a Warhol cover?,
This review is from: Andy Warhol: The Record Covers 1949-1987, Catalogue Raisonne (Hardcover)
Paul Marechal's beautiful book was published to coincide with the Warhol Live exhibition in Montreal, Canada, in October 2008. The idea was to collect all Warhol's record cover art. While the book illustrates the majority of Warhol's designs for record covers. Marechal, unfortunately, credits cover designs that have only tenuous connections with Andy Warhol. Thus the covers of the Ultra Violet and Loredana Berte's "Made in Italy" LPs, for instance, are not Warhol designs at all. In addition a further true Warhol designed record cover was unearthed shortly after this Catalogue Raisonné was published, rendering it incomplete. What we collectors need is a true catalogue raisonné that illustrates all Warhol's record cover designs and could include a separate section with the plethora of record covers and CD booklets/covers that use Warhol works as illustrations or that are by his associates. Until that book arrives this will have to do.
