4.0 out of 5 stars Anelastic and dielectric effects galore, July 17, 2010
This review is from: Anelastic and Dielectric Effects in Polymeric Solids (Paperback)
After a relatively easy to follow review of the theories of relaxations, this book then spends many pages showing the results of experiments on all manner of polymeric solids: methacrylates, polyvinyl esters, hydrocarbon polymers, polyesters, etc. Numerous plots of experimental data are included. The chapters covering experimental results are laid out similarly: the alpha relaxation is covered, then the beta, gamma, glass transitions, and so on. This breakdown, by polymer type and then by relaxation type, keeps the large amount of data in manageable chunks. Though somewhat dated (1967), the 617 pages can serve as a very useful starting point for those starting their studies of polymeric solids.
