5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Fresh Breath in Paranormal Romance December 6, 2011
ANEW. What can I say about this novel? Oh, yeah, I LOVE THIS BOOK! Chelsea Fine has just totally set my heart on fire with this amazingly fresh love triangle and storyline. Chelsea Fine has definitely penned a one of a kind story with the gorgeous Archer brothers and forever love of Scarlet. I'm sitting here trying to think how I can give Fine a review that will give her the praise she deserves as the talented writer that she is. And truth is, I will not do this story justice. I can only say I love her writing. She just has a way of bringing a story to life for me with tears, laugher, beautiful romance and a deep, strong storyline. Anew is definitely the right name for Fine's new novel. It's a new, fresh breath of paranormal romance, with an incredible storyline. And a cliffhanger ending that had me in tears. I thought I would be safe from Chelsea Fine breaking my heart in Anew, after she ripped my heart to pieces in her debut novel Sophie & Carter, but no such luck. Fine has a gift for making my heart feel every tender heart break between her characters. I just might have to email her and ask about Scarlet, Gabriel and Tristan. My heart might not hold out for Awry, the next book in The Archers of Avalon series.

Scarlet is seventeen, and two years ago she woke up in the woods of Avalon Georgia with no memory of who or where she came from. Laura, high class business women, becomes her loving guardian and brings Scarlet into her home. Heather becomes Scarlet's best friend and Laura and Heather are trying to help give Scarlet a new, meaningful life again. Scarlet loves these two, but she still feels lost, until this very hot, gorgeous new guy in town talks to her, and his voice sounds familiar to her. Gabriel's voice is a voice that makes Scarlet feel safe, normal, and a voice she can trust.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent read December 7, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I really loved this book. I'm glad that it didn't involve werewolves, vampires, fairies, mermaids, or any of the currently popular fictional beings. This book also had an interesting take on the love triangle. I'm really happy about Scarlet and how realistic she is. She freaks out when bad things happen (I hate when the main character is like "Oh that's ok!" even when something totally earth-shattering occurs), is sarcastic, doesn't care about fashion, and worries about things like a normal person would. The end of the book was a major cliff-hanger, which I hate because I waited months for this book to come out, finished it in three hours, and now have to wait months for the sequel. I am definitely excited to find out what happens next, though. I would definitely recommend this book to others.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good start to a promising series! January 13, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book was a little hard for me to get into at first. Not for lack of good writing, the story was fine and it seemed to flow nicely. I guess my biggest problem with the whole first half of the book really was that it was a bit boring. Scarlet was cool... given her history I think she seemed to handle things well and she was trying to be normal. Gabriel was a stand up guy, nothing about him made me dislike him, but nothing made me love him either. Tristan was a good character as well. Obviously there's something between Tristan and Scarlet but we didn't really get any insight into that in this book. Just a few memories here and there.

I'll start with what bothered me. There were too many questions and not enough answers. Even when Gabriel started telling Scarlet that she would die, he left out quite a lot of details. Nate had to tell her later in the book which was weird to me. I think there could've been quite a bit more history given into the background of the three immortal guys as well as Scarlet. A cursed arrow just seems like a tiny thing to have caused so much trouble for 500 years. What was with the "ash man"?? No answers, no hints, nothing. Except, I don't trust Laura. Don't ask me why, I just don't think she's good and her timing for trips was pretty convenient!! I would have liked more answers so that I at least had some idea of where the story is going for future books. The ending we were left with gives me the impression (and I could be wrong) that Scarlet is going to die yet again and wake up dumb.

The things I liked... I did like getting to read from the three different point of views. I liked having that insight into everyone's thoughts and I enjoyed getting to know each of the characters for who they were.

5.0 out of 5 stars Anew: The Archers of Avalon Book 1...Enjoyable Quest! December 14, 2011
By Bonnie
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This paranormal love-curse fest is between two immortal brothers, Gabriel and Tristan Archer, and their overwhelming desire for the half-immortal Scarlet. Unaware of her past, Scarlet had awakened two years prior in a wooded forest with amnesia, but she will soon become aware of bits and pieces of her past life as they unfold through her association with the Archer brothers.

As the story begins, seventeen-year-old Scarlet is attending the town's kissing festival with her best friend Heather. Not truly enjoying the festivities, Scarlet stands alone on the outskirts and observes. While viewing the kissing activities, Scarlet meets this luscious guy Gabriel. It will be from this point on in the tale that Gabriel and Scarlet begin to form a delicious relationship. This bond will lead them further into an adventure that will have the reader wondering what Gabriel is all about. For you see, Gabriel has secrets that can reveal Scarlet's past life. At the same time, his unveiled secrets will disclose Gabriel's twin brother Tristan and the bloody curse that involves all of them.

As the story unfolds and Scarlet has discovered twin brother Tristan, it will become known that the curse has to do with one brother having the need to become united with Scarlet while the other brother must stay away in order for Scarlet to live. It will be because of this that the three must find a way to break the curse. And so, the journey begins...

The uniqueness of this paranormal YA story is refreshing and makes for a lovely tale of friendship and fondness. Simultaneously, the intense desire amongst the three characters is really gripping (very mysterious). The reader never knows how the three characters' relationship will conclude. And it endures in the next installment, which is exciting to know that there is a continuation to this appealing storyline! So, if you like the genre, I highly recommend this book...very enjoyable read!
