Product Description

The advantage of a one-piece recorder is that there are no pieces to get lost, so it is an especially good choice for younger players.

The Angel recorder is an inexpensive but beautiful option as your first recorder. The one lower rating said it was screechy and inconsistent. It WOULD be for a 2 year old. The recorder is NOT a toy. It is a real musical instrument that originated in the Medieval era. It is perfect as a beginning instrument for 9-10 year olds. I teach it to 5th graders. At that age, they are both cognitively ready, as well as physically ready to use air control. They also have fingers that are big enough to cover the holes. Screeching happens for two reasons: either they aren't covering the holes properly or they are blowing too hard.

We are using a "recorder karate" system where the kids get a belt for the first song of a level and 2 beads for preceding songs in that level. I give a small prize for achieving the third belt out of 9 or higher. I have been giving kids who get a black belt the Harry Potter recorder book sold on Amazon.com. They kids absolutely love it!

One more thing is that I like the one piece version for kids because it can be frustrating for them to have two or three parts. Part can fall off or the bottom can get turned, making it difficult to play the notes using that bottom part.

The Angel recorder has a gorgeous sound if played properly. The more I play it, the more I love it.

When I was a student in Music Education, my advisors highly recommended to use Angel Recorders since the company has been producing very reliable and preferable recorders for years. I always use Angel Recorders and there is no complaints at all. This beautiful looking instrument creates a beautiful sound as well. Children love to begin their musical activities with a recorder because it is not very hard to learn and very light weighted to carry everywhere. There is a fingering instruction included in a bag. Enjoy playing music!

I ordered this recorder based on the (primarily) positive reviews, and am very glad that I chose this recorder over one of the more expensive ones available. First off, it looks great. It's definitely brand new, no scratches or nicks, no protruding seams in the plastic. It looks far more professional and elegant than the many multicolored recorders available. The sound quality is wonderful, too. It has a very clear, haunting, and melodic tone. It is quite easy to play as well. I've had it for about ten minutes and I can already play the Shire theme from Lord of the Rings. I would most definitely recommend this recorder for anyone, child or adult, whether they are a beginner or have played the recorder for years.

I ordered this recorder for my 4th-grader, who wanted to be able to practice her recorder at home. It's perfect, and a very nice-looking little thing. Much prettier than the one I had when I was her age! And the price can't be beat!

This product is very durable. We bought it for our fourth grader who needed it for school. She wanted to carry it in her backpack and at first we were a little leary but with the case that came with it...we have no worries now. and she loves it so much. She was learning how to play it before school actually started.

I got this recorder for my almost-3 year old to replace a wooden one that he broke. It is a really good quality instrument for the very low price that I paid for it.

I bought this recorder for my niece and nephews to help them learn music.
So far so good, except my niece managed to break part of the bottom off.

I think they were recorder-fighting so this is probably not a flaw in the make. I especially like it because it is one piece. I had the feeling things like recorder fighting and misuse would happen (they are 5 and 6) so I wanted something sturdy and in one piece. The recorders that come apart would get lost if you are purchasing for younger ages unless they are more responsible children. The only downside is the color. It is a little harder to see the holes when trying to show them proper placement. The pitch is legitimate so far (it has been about 5 months since my first purchase of it), and they play well together.
