Review

"Eden is a master of suspenseful paranormal romance, and her Fallen series is full of sexy alpha angels, all ready to sin for the right woman. Az and Jade's chemistry is practically combustible, beginning in lust and growing toward love. And with fast-paced action, readers are in for a wicked ride."--RT BookReviews

I just love Cynthia Eden's Fallen Angels. They are so messed up but change so much in these stories. In this story we follow Azrael - a powerful Death Angel who struggles with one of his biggest temptations - Jade who is a human. She is everything he wants and feels. He does everything he can to claim her and to give into those temptations he feels. At the beginning of the story Az first meets Jade as three members of a powerful panther shifter pack have her cornered in an alley. He steps in to help her because it is the right thing to do. It turns out Jade is being hunted by a powerful hybrid panther shifter (Brandt) who is the alpha of this pack and will stop at nothing to get Jade back. Even if that means he will kill anyone in his path. From there Az is gets caught up in protecting Jade from Brandt and falls in love with her along the way (which he doesn't realize until it is too late of course). We watch how love can make or break Azrael and how it changes his path to getting back into Heaven.

I had mixed feelings about Az in the first two Fallen books but he did start to grow on me in this one. He was just so messed up, broken, and sometimes confused so he wasn't easy to get close to and I felt so bad for him. Jade helped him through this and I really liked how strong she was for him. She sure had a lot of spunk and was ready to take on the world if it meant she could save her friends from Brandt's wrath.

As for other characters in the book, I found Sammael to be hilarious as usual and I think he is my favorite Fallen so far. Tanner and Cody were great additions and I hope Tanner and Marna have a story in the future.

Angel In Chains was a really great read.

Azrael, once one of the most feared Death Angels has fallen, his wings are gone and the one thing on his mind is redemption as he wanders the earth alone. Jade is a woman who is running from the terror of a twisted and deranged former lover, the shifter Brandt. They meet as Jade is being attacked in a dark alley and Azrael sees a way to redeem himself by saving this woman. Little does he realize, Jade also sees a way to use Azrael to save herself from her life of terror. Here's where the sparks start to fly and the action never stops! Characters from the previous books in the series get involved and the cast is well-represented by Angels, Shifters, Witches. Jade and Azrael are well-matched and bring out the best in each other!

The fight scenes are intense, the love scenes warm, the intrigue abounds as there is often doubt as to who can really be trusted, as another Death Angel, Bastion is bent on taking Jade from Azrael. The attention to detail throughout the story makes a vivid mental picture for the reader-A good read with an ending full of revelations and satisfaction!

Angel in Chains by Cynthia Eden
Paranormal Romance -Nov 27th, 2012
4 stars

Angel in Chains is the third in the thrilling Fallen series about angels who have lost their wings and seek to find redemption but find an eternal love instead. This book can be easily read by itself.

Azrael is and Angel of Death an immortal whose mere touch can kill. He has recently lost his wings and is stuck in the `hellish' human world. His holy hope is redemption. But in a back alley thought of redemption change when a woman is being attacked by shifters and dares Az to save her! A beautiful green eyed human who tempts into mortal sin with hot and steamy sex!
But Jade is cunning as well as gorgeous and Az's strength is just what she needs if she wants to free herself from her deadly stalker ex boyfriend Brandt. The problem? Jade finds that her soft heart can't let Az hurt himself to protect her. But the big dumb stud won't leave her alone. But his company makes him a target for her jealous ex and soon the powerful Az finds that he might not be on top of the food chain because Brandy has powers and secrets that are lethal even for an angel.

Jade is a fascinating character. She has had a hard life and is just trying to survive she cares but tries to hide her weakness which only makes her more loveable. But Jade is also reckless and a bit wild she wants to prevent Az from being hurt while protecting her but finds Az determined to stay with her despite her attempts to push him away. Az is one supr Hot angel. I think he is my favorite in this series so far. He is arrogant and a bit too self confident but how I love it when Jade confuses him and surprises him. And when he finds himself addicted to a `mere' human!

Thanks to the publisher, Kensington Publishing Corp., and NetGalley for the chance to read this!

I've read many books by this author. I typically don't read serial books out of order, but I won this & didn't want to wait to receive books 1 &2 (Yes, I went ahead & ordered them before I read this one).

Angel in Chains is more than just a typical paranormal romance. The author has crafted a unique world where everyone has their own agenda. There is a cast of well-developed supporting characters, included in this book woven into sub-plots but don't overtake the overall storyline --instead keeping the entire read exhilarating and entertaining (i.e Sam & Seline - by the way book 3 will spoil their story - so read book 2 prior to this one).

The plot is riveting and filled with intrigue, betrayals, passion and sexual tension. As a reader I felt instantly connected to Jade (and eventually Azrael grew on me). Jade is a kick-ass heroine, who doesn't need, or want, a man to rescue her - too bad Azrael seems determined to do just that.

I felt torn and wasn't sure how I wanted their HEA to happen - even now a week later & I still think about an alternate ending - not that the ending wasn't great, it was, but...I kinda wish this was one of those "Choose Your Adventure" books from my childhood.

Disclosure: This ebook was provided to me free of charge for the sole purpose of an honest review. All thoughts, comments, and ratings are my own.
