Grade 1-3–Originally published in German, this is a collection by various authors, including half a dozen "connecting stories" by Weninger. They are loosely bound by the concept of an angel and a rabbit discussing ideas for a perfect Christmas present. The offerings range from a retelling of the "Gingerbread Man" to the tale of a little girl whose wish for snow comes true, and they vary in quality and interest. Most of the paintings, contributed by various artists, are compelling, but they are few and far between. The conversations between the angel and rabbit have an arbitrary feel, but the illustrations of these characters are among the most appealing in the book. Not a necessary purchase.–E. M.

Twenty four stories for twentyfour days before Christmas...Read a story every evening after dinner. A great family hour or before bedtime story time.

Stories are version of international traditional tales. Each have a special lesson or message.

I bought this book after reading a library book. It was special enough that I wanted my own copy. The illustrations are beautiful too. While it is a children's book, many adults will enjoy it too.

Outstanding Book. A must if you enjoy advent traditions. We first found this book in Germany in 2004 and love it !! Our children look forward to hearing it every year and do not tire of hearing the heartwarming stories that make them laugh and think....

This is a great concept for reading. I think a child at least 8 or older would enjoy or at least get the meaning of each story. My son enjoys it, but I have to narrate or explain each story after in tearms of each lesson of each story. He likes the book.
