Desire and danger blaze like wild?re across the bold American West...in these scorching novels from New York Times bestselling author Linda Howard

ANGEL CREEK

After her father died, beautiful Dee Swann held on to her homestead in the Colorado hills, ?ercely determined that no one would claim her land -- or her independence. Then ruthless, ambitious Lucas Cochran came to Angel Creek valley to challenge her on both counts....He needs the valley's cool waters to turn the drought-cursed high country into the cattle dynasty he craves. But as their ?ery confrontation ?ares into a wild and unfettered passion, they are bound together in a dangerous destiny -- with much more than just frontier dreams at stake....

A LADY OF THE WEST

Victoria Waverly was a noble daughter of the war-ruined South -- and wife in name only to a heartless Western rancher. Yet neither honor nor pride could quench her forbidden desire for hired gunman Jake Roper. His narrow gaze, hard as ice, hid tender emotions -- and he cursed his burning need for this graceful, innocent lady. For the blazing New Mexico territory called him to ?ght for the sweeping ranchland that was his birthright. On a mission to set right the past across the lawless land, the powerful cowboy and the aristocratic beauty would reach the heights of passion -- and step closer to the ?ames of destruction....

4.0 out of 5 stars Reverse order?!, March 21, 2003
This review is from: Angel Creek and A Lady of the West (Paperback)
I really liked both stories...but then I am a devoted reader of Linda Howard. They only reason I will not give this a 5 star rating is the fact that the editor put the stories out of order. Read Lady of the West FIRST. Since there is a character that first appears here and then again later in time in Angel Creek.

Both stories are quick and totally engrossing reads. Once you start it is hard to put them down.

Enjoy!

3.0 out of 5 stars Good... but also not so good..., July 31, 2006
Both stories were very good, and I agree that they should've been put in order. I loved Angel Creek, but I wasn't very fond of Lady of the West. What kept this from being a four or five star read was the fact that in Lady of the West, the main hero hits the heroine and accuses her of trying to pass her first husband's baby as his, when it really was his. What made me even madder was the fact that he believed a [...] word more than his own wife's word. Men like Jake just irritates me. But other than that, I loved Victoria, Emma, and Celia. This story was so heartbreaking. I also loved Emma's little story that was included in A Lady of the West. Another problem with the book is that they use one of the same characters in Angel Creek and he told something that ruined Lady of the West for me.

1.0 out of 5 stars not worth the price, October 27, 2007
I can just say that in recent years I found I like her books less and less, than again maybe it's just me.
Woman that will let a man step all over them are not really my taste, it is no longer a fantasy its just pitiful and painful.
