Book Description

He Fell For Her

Nicole St. James was a nice woman. An innocent, pretty, twentysomething schoolteacher with her life ahead of her. But as the angel of death, it's Keenan's job to take that life away. So when a vampire attacks Nicole, Keenan is not supposed to snap and take out the vampire instead. It cost him his wings--but she's worth it.

Except when Keenan catches up to his pretty schoolteacher, she's not so innocent anymore. Hot red lipstick, tight black shorts and long white fangs--she's ready to kick the asses of anyone who helped turn her into a damn bloodsucker. Unless that ass is unusually shapely and attached to a certain fallen angel. Even with all of heaven and half of hell after them, someone will have to teach Keenan about the fun kinds of sin. . .

“Cynthia's on my must-buy list." --New York Times bestselling author Angie Fox

Praise for Cynthia Eden's novels

“Highly sensual and definitely dangerous." --Shannon McKenna on Hotter After Midnight

“A wickedly unique voice in paranormal romance!" --Larissa Ione on I'll Be Slaying You

Editorial Reviews

Review

"Motorcycle chases, bar fights, and Keenan's discovery of lust drive this crisp, heart-pounding, smart thriller." - Publishers Weekly on ANGEL OF DARKNESS

From the Back Cover

As an angel of death, Keenan's job is to collect the souls on his list. He's carried out his duty for two thousand years and never faltered once. Until he meets Nicole St. James.  When the moment of death comes, Keenan hesitates, and instead of taking Nicole, Keenan touches the vampire who's attacking her.

Cast out of heaven for disobedience, Keenan plummets to earth. Six months later, he finally manages to track Nicole to a bar in Mexico. He's stunned to discover that the woman he remembers has undergone a dramatic change--she's become a vampire. And when he realizes that she's the target of all manner of enemies--other vampires, demons, even shifters--he'll do whatever it takes to protect her, even if all hell breaks loose...

3.0 out of 5 stars Angel of Darkness, not my favorite angel series December 1, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
My review may be biased because I recently read another book about lost or fallen angels which had characters by the same names as in this book and I liked it a lot better than this one. My first complaint would be that this was the most expensive book of this genre that I have purchased for my kindle, so I guess I expected more from it than from the really cheap books I've bought, but not so much. Story wise, it was very repetitive with lots of redundant parts. If I had to read one more time how the female character licked her lips I was going to puke. The entire books is them running from people, mostly being caught up to by the same people over and over and over, halfway through the book I was wishing for the main characters death, that's probably not a good sign. There was just something about the main characters that I didn't like, I thought they might grow on me, but they didn't. To me they came off as way too self- centered, nothing mattered but what they wanted, not a very endearing quality in an "angel". I guess I was expecting some sort of redemption or unselfish act to show that these were good people whose future stories I would want to read more about, but that didn't happen for me.

4.0 out of 5 stars 4 1/2 Kisses- great start to a new Cynthia Eden series! November 29, 2011
Format:Paperback
On her way to pray, mild-mannered Nicole St. James meets with a horrible fate near the steps of a New Orleans Cathedral. Fighting for her life as a vampire is ravaging her body, she pleads with a shadowy figure to save her life. While Keenan hovers over the scene, watching for the appropriate moment to touch Nicole and take her soul to heaven, something about her tugs at his heart. Instead of taking her soul, he touches the vampire instead and faces the awful consequence of immediately losing his angel status in heaven, thrust to earth for his disobedience. Reconciling with his new life, Keenan is determined to find Nicole. When he finds her, will he be prepared for what Nicole has become?

Once again, Cynthia Eden doesn't fail to disappoint her long-time fans with another outstanding supernatural read exposing more of the Other in Angel of Darkness. I immediately felt sympathy for Nicole St. James who one day was a school teacher and the next wound up a vampire. What a gutsy lady having to live off her wits in some dire circumstances looking for her next drink to survive. Six months into her new life, Keenan locates her and he cannot believe what he sees. Gone is the meek woman he was tracking as a death angel. The `new' Nicole is a hard-nosed woman who isn't above trickery to get what she needs to survive. He admires her pluck and cannot help but be sexually aroused by her.

Knowing he's responsible for her transformation, Keenan vows to stay with her when he finds she's being targeted for termination by not only the supernatural but the human community. Can Nicole learn not only to trust but fall in love with this man who seems vaguely familiar to her?

I loved Ms. Eden's superb characterization of Keenan and Nicole as they look deep inside themselves to come to one conclusion--they are redeemable and worthy of love. Both battle their demons in Angel of Darkness and find ultimate joy in themselves. Cynthia Eden's Angel of Darkness is the perfect blend of red-hot sex and supernatural suspense driven by a rockin' plot. Pick up Ms. Eden's book today and be just like me--waiting in breathless anticipation for another story in her highly innovative Other universe.

2.0 out of 5 stars Feels Unfinished... April 19, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Cynthia Eden is usually a must-buy for me so I went into this book expecting a certain standard. I am familiar with the world of the "others" so I didn't backstory (for a new reader be warned you get little to know explanation of the different kinds, powers, hierarchy etc). I know that this is a new series but the characters felt largely unfinished to me. I felt that the secondary character of Sam had more depth and intrigue than Kennan and Nicole. Eden begins the story with a great build-up and then drops the reader into the aftermath with a completely changed heroine (that made sense because of the story) and a male lead that knows what he is but doesn't. Nicole spends most of the book bewildered and left-out-of-the-loop about everyone's motivations for killing her, so she runs around telling everyone that will listen that she is stronger than she looks. In this case actions speak louder than words she doesn't really do anything. She bemoans the fact that she has done some bad things, she bemoans the fact that she is the cause of Kennan's struggle, she bemoans the fact that she doesn't know what is going on. There are a few quick mentions of characters from Eden's other books but the reader is made very aware that you are in the "other" world but mainly on the periphery of what came before in the previous books. Kennan discovers his powers along the way but I remained completely unconvinced of his "love" for Nicole that made him give up everything to save her over, and over, and over again. The "angel" mythology was not explained well, the act of falling, the results, powers and the pursuit by Azrael did not get the attention that Eden is usually so good at giving to a story. I have never read one of Eden's books and felt like I did not know what the point of the book was. Even the HEA was anticlimactic. It is clear that this book set up at least two other characters for their own stories but in the next ones I sincerely hope that Eden goes back to writing strong women as lead and gorgeous, intriguing men.
