A word of advice: get at least three,

This review is from: Angel Dear Blankie, Brown Giraffe (Baby Product)
I don't know what it is, but every baby I know who has one of these adopts this as their go to security object. My 13 month old son loves this blanket. If there were only room for three of us in the life raft, I think I'd be waving to my wife and son and this damn blanket from the sinking ship. I'd be tempted to try to enumerate all the great things about this, but frankly, I have no idea why babies love these. It's soft, but I'm guessing there's more to it than that, and we'll just have to wait until somebody makes one of those speaking gadgets for babies that they had for the dogs in "Up" before we'll really know what the deal is.
But I can say this: for the love of God get at least three. You'll need some in reserve, because eventually one will get barfed on or lost and you'll be really glad when your child's security object needs are still able to be met with nothing more than a quick little switcheroo. You may need to rotate in the second and third string blankies for a while to get them all smelling like you. That way, when the need truly strikes, the blankie you call in from the bullpen will not smell like the factory. My kid doesn't seem to care, but I've heard that some babies are not so easily fooled.

My older son has the giraffe and I just ordered the monkey for the baby. I don't know what it is about these particular animal-heads-on-a-blanket, but they are like sleep candy for kids. My older son is 4 and still sleeps with the giraffes and I see the baby headed in this direction too. They are super soft and hold up really well. I have a friend who bought us the first one and said her kids fall right to sleep so she buys them for everyone she knows!! I do the same now and have lots of friends HOOKED! Just make sure you buy more than one...if you lose the first one a back-up is a MUST!! Awesome product.

Ears,
This review is from: Angel Dear Blankie, Brown Giraffe (Baby Product)
I think these lovies are great and so does my baby. She received the bear as a gift when she was born. I wanted to get a couple extras because she uses it all the time. I ordered the pink poodle n the spotted dog. I have had them less than 1 month and an ear has fallen off of each one. She only uses them in her crib and they haven't been washed excessively. I m disappointed n also feel it's dangerous.

As the other reviews state, you need to have a few of these, and in case it wasn't obvious, of the same kind!
We have the owl and the elephant, and perhaps it was just by the order we introduced them, but our 8 month old daughter loves her owl when she sleeps. Brown isn't exactly the most appealing color, but it's soft and the owl head gives her something to gnaw on as she settles down. Well, when the owl was in the wash, we tried to sub in the elephant. You would have thought that the elephant was leaking acid the way she cried and tried to get away from it. Another owl is already in route. For whatever reason, this blanket really helps settle her to sleep.

I purchased the Angel Dear blankie for my son when he was about 5 months old. I wanted to get him a lovey that was lightweight enough for him to sleep with without my having to worry about it being a SIDs risk. I know that the advice is to wait until a year old before putting anything in the crib with your baby, but he was having trouble adjusting to sleeping with his arms not swaddled (and swaddling is also a SIDS risk once your baby can roll over). This blankie was a major help in teaching my son to sleep with his arms unswaddled. Before we got it, he'd fall asleep with his arms out but wake himself up by flailing within 20 minutes or less. Hugging the blankie helped him have something to do with his arms and he was able to stay asleep longer without flailing and waking himself up. The reasons I chose this blankie were the fact that it was so lightweight and the zillions of glowing reviews about it. As a first-time mom, I was still nervous about having anything in the crib with my little one, so at first I only gave it to him at the beginning of the night. When I went to bed, I'd sneak into his room and take it away. After a few weeks, I saw that he was capable of pulling it off of his face if it ended up there and felt reassured, and he's slept with it all night ever since. We now have three of this blankie, one for his crib, one for the diaper bag, and a backup that we keep in his closet just in case. We rotate them all and wash them regularly. He loved this blankie from the start, and would hug it while he slept at night. Up until about a month ago (when separation anxiety started in earnest), he mostly only used the blankie in the crib. Now at 11 months old, he wants to hold it sometimes when he is awake, too. He chews on the little nubs and will crawl around with it hanging from his mouth. When he sees the one we have in the diaper bag, he pulls it out and hugs it. This blankie was definitely a great investment! I won't hesitate to purchase one (and a couple backups) for my next baby when he or she comes along.

Ears are a SERIOUS choking hazard,
This review is from: Angel Dear Blankie, Brown Giraffe (Baby Product)
I have never written a review before but this is lovey is POORLY made. Today when I picked my 6 month old baby up from the crib he began to make choking/gagging sounds. I felt the roof of his mouth and the ear of his puppy style Angel Dear Blankie was in his mouth. I was actually going to order a second one to have as a back up but after what happened today I will be writing the company instead. The ears seem to have only a couple of loose stitches to attach them to the blanket. This is being marketed as a lovey which is something that children fall asleep with and handle quite frequently. My baby easily tore it off just by sucking on it. As adorable and soft as they are- they are DANGEROUS.

Incredibly cute, but the actual product is even smaller than indicated, more like 11.5 x 11.5. But otherwise decent quality.

These are the absolute best loveys you can get. They are super soft and wash well. My daughter is now 27 months and uses the same one she has had since birth. We've purchased additional 'backups' for washing and, GOD FORBID, if we lose one! LOL! I just purchased the blue lamb for my infant son. So soft and cuddly. I know he will love it too!

Lovie Love,

This review is from: Angel Dear Blankie, Grey Raccoon (Baby Product)
After having a lovie loving son, we expected our second to have a special blanket as well. I learned a few things from my first security blanket momma experience:1. Make sure you like what you see. It'll be your constant companion for years. 2. Buy multiples. Like others have said, I'd recommend getting at least three the moment you realize your child is attached. 3. Don't save the extras as backup. Go ahead and put them in rotation. Too far down the road and your child might notice the substitution and worse, they might care! Despite having three lovies for our first, the he knows and refers to the original as his favorite. The replacements never had a chance to achieve the same level of primo dinginess. And dinginess matters. They'll know. Why does the angel dear blanket makes the cut? 1. I like what I see. They are pretty stinkin' cute. If I didn't think my son might care, I'd get him a bunch of different ones. But then he might require every version that we own and that wouldn't cut it. 2. It is holding up well to abuse. Much better than big brother's head-less bear head Tiddliwinks blanket. 3. Currently, it is showing much less dirt than his older brother's blanket. Less dingy = happy momma! And, last but not least, my son loves it. Enough said. |
