"Angel of Death", also known as its better title, "Commando Mengele" is a European exploitation movie in which a group of people discover a mysterious German living in a castle in Paraguay may be the infamous Dr. Jofel Mengele. Something sinister is going on in the castle, which is heavily guarded by men who don't hesitate to kill anyone who gets too close. One of the writers of the movie is Jess Franco and many of his regular actors appear. Mengele is played by Howard Vernon and among the good guys are Antonio Mayans and Jack Taylor. Mengele's henchman is an American mercenery played by Christopher Mitchum.The movie is pure exploitation and not very well directed by Andrea Bianchi (best known for Burial Ground - Night of Terror), but it's a lot of fun and should please most fans of European trash cinema. |
