2.0 out of 5 stars Religious
My Mom read this book first and she said "Oh my, this book is so overly religious". She said that I should pass on reading it, it's too overdone.

I am a dog lover so for me this just re-enforced their need in our world and helped me appreciate them more. Are they indeed sent from our Maker as messengers of love? I believe that may well be true. If you love dogs, or even if you just want to understand their unique service to man; this book is for you.Written in a tender, honest, interesting and absorbing way; you will find it difficult to put this book down. I recommend "Angel Dogs" highly. Absolutely amazing insight!

4.0 out of 5 stars The special relationship between dogs and humans, October 11, 2005
This review is from: Angel Dogs: Divine Messengers of Love (Paperback)
Allen and Linda Anderson's "Angel Dogs" is a perfect present for all dog lovers. As the authors point out, the original meaning of angel is messenger. The individual true accounts that follow from a variety of writers show that dogs do indeed, have special messages for us, not the least of which is unconditional love and devotion. The authors' introduction touches briefly on the unique relationship between dogs and humans dating back to the Stone Age. It is followed by individual accounts of dogs who played a special role sometimes heroic, sometimes healing, and sometimes just being there in response to the emotional need of a member of their family.
It makes you wonder what early humans did to inspire such steadfast devotion from another species.

5.0 out of 5 stars Truly and inspirational book with 4 paws! Great., October 11, 2005
This review is from: Angel Dogs: Divine Messengers of Love (Paperback)
Very few books will touch your heart and make you think about the unselfishness and the overwhelming goodness contributed to our world by dogs. This is a wonderful book full of true, heartfelt stories about dogs. Attention is immediately captured by the first story about a Jack Russell terrier, named Cpl. J. R. Dugan, apparently his "Daddy" gave him his rank as a Marine, that is guaranteed to give any reader goose bumps. This is a must read for any dog lover and will make converts of the rest. I smiled all day thinking about the wonderful stories--really a "day brightener". I am ordering more for stocking stuffers.

This is the first book in the series I have read, I also purchased the angel cats book but havent read it yet. The stories in the Angel Dogs book are very nice and I found them so comforting at this very difficult time of grieving the loss of a very dear dog. This book gives me hope that there will be good times again and that our dear friend is still very much with us and I pray he will choose to come spend more lifetimes with us. The book also helps confirm some beliefs or thoughts that I have had already and now I have the confirmation that I was indeed visited by previous beloved pets in my dreams as well as during wakefulness. The book helps give the strength to go on and offers so many stories I laughed and cried plenty through reading the book.

My friend's dog of many years finally died of multiple problems, and my friend was very sad. I gave her this book for Christmas, and she said it was very helpful and comforting.

5.0 out of 5 stars Uplifting Book, August 26, 2009
This review is from: Angel Dogs: Divine Messengers of Love (Paperback)
Angel Dogs by Allen and Linda Anderson is a fascinating non-fiction book of amazing stories about dogs from different people. One of the most uplifting and fun stories was from a family sharing about how they celebrate "Dog Day." All day, they focus on their dogs and make it a very fun day for the whole family. I thought this was a wonderful idea! The stories range from how people's dogs brought joy to their lives to amazing things they did to revisiting their owners after they died both in dreams and in signs and one even appeared to wake his owner up when he fell asleep on guard duty to save his career! It certainly is comforting for any dog owner in that it gives us hope of seeing our pets again who have crossed over the Rainbow Bridge. Who knows? Read it for yourself and you'll see what I mean.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Dog Lover's Book, January 28, 2011

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Angel Dogs: Divine Messengers of Love (Paperback)
For dog lovers this book is a wonderful confirmation of the bond between humans and their dogs. Among the uplifting, sometimes awesome, examples the reader will find in these heartwarming stories are: a newly adopted dog instinctually saves an infant, a deaf prisoner while training a dog to be a companion dog learns for himself compassion and patience, a pair of swans come to say a last goodbye to their canine friend, an elderly man's end of life is richer and fuller because of his dog, one dog comes back from Heaven to keep his master from losing his career, and a physic is given a glimpse of Heavenly dogs at work after an earthquake in Iran. Some of the stories are so-so, but some are truly amazing. Eunice Boeve, author of Ride a Shadowed Trail
