"Heaven" is possibly a hint on what Z-Ro has been talking about doing a "Rother Vandross" album.

A majority of the tracks are in depth and make you think, a couple track are tracks to ride to.

I preface five stars by saying that is only based on comparing to what else is being put out these days.....If you like lyrical content its impossible not to put Z RO head and shoulders above the crap you hear all day...if you have an IQ and are not 12 to 15 years old, you can appreciate the things he talks about..the weakest songs on all his albums are the ones catering to the nonsense that demo wants to hear....best out since Pac...simple as that. I have every song ever made by Tupac and every album by Z RO...go listen to the old ones also...he has changed his style and delivery of slowing down his raps..but his content has always been ahead of his time and age...even back to Look What You Done To Me.

Ro is growing as an artist on each album. I give it 4 1/2 outta 5.
A majority of the tracks are in depth and make you think, a couple track are tracks to ride to.

The lyrics are what Ro fans come to expect from him, like Ro says he will change his lyrics/what he raps about when he finds happiness and real true friends.
Production is on point. I like his last album "Meth" better, but not by much.

I personally like when Ro does more singing on hook and in the songs, then switches it up and can dust off other rappers on the next track.
This album has a good smooth flow... But haters gone hate.

Not many Features on this album but the few that appear on tracks do right by Rotha (Lil Flea of The Street Military), Lil Flip, Mike D & K-Rino.... Can't forget B.G, Ro & B.G are suppose to have a joint cd/street album dropping soon.

FYI: Yes Ro's recent albums are different from his earlier Rap-A-Lot releases. But it is still quality work and true fans will enjoy the growth of Mr. Joseph Wayne McVey.

Ro does it again...As usual Ro doesn't clutter his album with guest appearances. That being said there are a few good collaborations. Lil Flea from Street Military joins him on "Love It". Flea holds his own on this song. To my surprise, the founder of the SPC the Wizard himself, K-Rino makes an appearance on this album on "Today". K-Rino and Ro always complement one another and this is easily one of my favorite songs on this album. B.G.,Lil Flip, and Mike D also appear on different songs. "These Days" was placed on this album even though this song was released as a single awhile back. "Truth Is" is a typical Ro song about life and its struggles. But that's what makes Ro great, he tells it like it is and his life experiences. He even reveals who "I hate you bitch" was about. "Time" is another song I'll add to my favorite on my playlist. Once again listen to the words and Ro masterfully expresses his pain. "Never" has Ro recycling some previous lyrics he has done on other albums. But this song still jams and the beat with his flow just makes this another classic song. "Young Ni**a" talks about back in the day and he even sings the chorus to Ahmad's hit "Back in the days when I was young I'm not a kid anymore" bringing his own style to it. "Heaven" is possibly a hint on what Z-Ro has been talking about doing a "Rother Vandross" album. He does rap on this song but does some more singing on this song than usual. This song leaves me intrigued as what a whole album of "Rother Vandross: album would sound like. In all a great album. Possibly one of his best albums in a longtime. Ro has stated this is last album with Rap-A-Lot so well see where he goes from here.

So the past few Z-ro albums have had a few good songs on them, but overall as an album Heroin and Meth felt sort of incomplete as did Crack. Angel Dust delivers with the force of past hits like Look What You Did To Me, The Life of Joseph McVey, I'm Still Livin' and 1 Deep. Z-Ro's albums with Trae as A.B.N. have also been great. Angel Dust is the best Z-Ro album of the past 5 years (at least) and definitely one of the best albums to come out of Houston in 2012. You can really tell Z-Ro has grown as an artist and tweaked his sound a little bit.

Any fans of U.G.K., Houston rap, or the Dirty South in general should add this to their collection. This album is worth every penny! Angel Dust is proof there's still untapped areas in rap music. Others who have heard this album will agree it's much better than recent "music" releases on the charts by former prison guards (Rick Ross) or no talent clones like 2 Chainz
