Book Description

May 29, 2012 An Angel Eyes Novel (Book 1)
Once you've seen, you can't unsee. Everything changes when you've looked at the world through . . .
Angel Eyes

Brielle's a ballerina who went to the city to chase her dreams and found tragedy instead. She's come home to shabby little Stratus, Oregon, to live with her grief and her guilt . . . and the incredible, numbing cold she can't seem to shake.
Jake's the new guy at school. The boy next door with burning hands and an unbelievable gift that targets him for corruption.
Something more than fate has brought them together. An evil bigger than both of them lurks in the shadows nearby, hiding in plain sight. Two angels stand guard, unsure what's going to happen. And a beauty brighter than either Brielle or Jake has ever seen is calling them to join the battle in a realm where all human choices start.
A realm that only angels and demons-and Brielle-can perceive.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent! July 1, 2012
Format:Paperback
Brielle left her small hometown in search of fulfilling her dreams, but when tragedy strikes, she returns home broken. She finds herself constantly bumping into Jake, a new guy, whose warmth draws her in despite her best efforts to ignore it. When a spiritual battle breaks loose in their small town as evil threatens the lives of innocent children, the two are drawn into a world where the supernatural and natural meet and choices that determine forever are made.

For fans of Christian fiction, picture Frank Peretti's This Present Darkness and mix with a teen romance and dab of a girl's journey to find herself. That's what Angel Eyes is. The beginning of the book is a little slow, but by the middle it had picked up to a speed that kept me up until after one in the morning to finish the novel. Brielle is a flawed but well-developed character and teen readers will identify with her. Jake is the typical hero, goofy but sensitive. Girl readers will love him.

The spiritual/paranormal plot fits what is popular with teens right now, and I think teen readers will love the romance aspect of the story. I hope they walk away thinking a little more about the spiritual world and the eternal ramifications of the choices they make.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to book two.
I received this book in exchange for my review. My thoughts and opinions are my own.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not your average angel tale June 30, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
My Summary:

Brielle is cold. She hasn't been able to get warm since moving back from the city where everything in her world fell apart. The only warm she finds is around the new boy, Jake. He's so warm. She feels better just being around him. But he might not be safe when an evil power targets him as theirs. With angels guarding, can they both be protected? Fate has brought them together but will the evil pull them apart?

My Thoughts:

4 stars - not your normal angel tale

This story is not your normal angel and demon book. For one thing, it's HEAVY on the religious themes. I, personally, didn't mind that but I think some peeps will. For another thing, this story doesn't follow the normal pattern of angels and demons, which is certainly a good thing. It's unpredictable and minus the love triangle, thanks goodness. Something else that's different is the POVs that are used. Mostly we see things from Brielle's POV but part way through the author adds the thoughts of the demon and the angel. I actually struggled with that. I was much happier with Brielle and somewhat confused at times when reading from the other POVs. It became clear, though, that that was on purpose. I got used to it and became much more content as the story went on.

I love Brielle and Jake. They have a sweet relationship that doesn't materialize out of no where. While they do have an immediate attraction, Elle fights it for quite a while. Her struggle really worked here. They are cute together. It's not super hot chemistry but I really enjoyed it.

If you like the angels stories, then this one should not be missed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love Angel Eyes June 29, 2012
Format:Paperback
Ok I am a big fan of Urban Fantasy, especially if there is a mention of supernatural worlds with demons and angels. Angel Eyes gave me that with a Christian view. It tells the story of a girl gaining sight to the Celestial (supernatural) when she moved back home after experiencing a great lost. She meets this new boy and that's when her life started to change.
As you know I'm not big on spoilers, so I won't tell you what happens after that. What I can say is the book does a great job of keeping the reader engaged in the story. Although I've had the book for a while it only took me a day to read it. This is a YA (Young Adult) book but there isn't too much romance where you feel you're reading a romance hover but just enough to make you want more. I loved the extra back story and details on satan and his fallen angels. Maybe I'm the only one but I think the story of Lucifer falling from grace and taking other angels with him is interesting and I enjoyed Shannon's interpretation of it.
For this to be a fiction I learned so much about God and his personality, fear and what i looks like, and about believing a power that you don't always understand. I believe this book made my faith a little stronger.
All in All it was well deserving of my 5 stars and I would gladly recommend it to anyone to read, especially if they like sci-fi and urban fantasy. Part 2 Broken Wings does not come out until Feb 2013 and it has me waiting with anxiety. Great job Shannon on your first novel!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good one!
Great read, a bit slow at first. Although it's done in a similar style as Frank Peretti it has the potential to be its own series.
