Book Description

All Angela wants is to understand why her father, security specialist Mac McKenzie, dropped dead on a sidewalk in Boston. Instead, she is thrust into the midst of an international conspiracy when she discovers that her father was working on a classified project at the time of his death. Now, the FBI, a terrorist and a killer have her in their sights.

Former Navy SEAL turned undercover operative, Chase Romero thinks his boss is overreacting when he orders Chase to small town America to protect Angela. But he changes his mind when her home is burglarized and “accidents” begin to happen. The real question becomes, how can he keep her safe if he keeps tripping over his own heart?

After shooting an intruder, Angela flees the scene, and the FBI issues a warrant for her arrest. On the run for her life and her freedom, she places her trust in Chase. As they travel from New England, to the nation’s capital, to the shores of Lake Michigan, the trail – and their attraction – grow hotter. Together, they team up to prevent a global financial market meltdown and face a killer who will stop at nothing to get his hands on the project Mac protected with his life.

"ANGEL ON FIRE is a thriller loaded with sexual tension without being too overtly about the sex." - My Book Addiction and More

About the Author

Jacquie Johnson fell in love with books on her mother's knee. From Dr. Seuss to Carolyn Keene to L.M. Montgomery, she continued her affair until her teenage years when she began reading authors ranging from Tom Clancy to Nora Roberts to Johanna Lindsey. She's still an avid reader but now carries an e-reader instead of a paperback in her purse. Mysteries and suspense are her favorite genres, but she enjoys romance, historical fiction, and non-fiction as well. She graduated from Harvard and Indiana University School of Law. After ten years practicing labor and employment law, she retired to homeschool her daughters. She lives in Northwest Indiana with her husband, three daughters, and a spoiled cocker spaniel named Princess.

4.0 out of 5 stars Romantic Mystery May 15, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Angela's world has been torn apart when she receives a phone call that her father has died. After she goes home from the funeral, he life goes from bad to worse. Her father's house gets broken into, she gets hit by a car, starts receiving weird and threatening phone calls, and whats up with her dads business? She doesn't understand how a completely healthy man can just drop dead of a heart attack, and all of a sudden he has a heart condition? Since when? Nothing is making any sense and everything seems to be closing in on her. Then an unlikely and totally hot savior comes in to help her.

Chase couldn't believe he was put on babysitting detail. I mean sure this was his boss's goddaughter, but how much trouble was she really in that required his services? Everything looked pretty straight forward until after the funeral. Chase started tailing her and watched the burglary and the car swipe, which he broke his cover to help her up. Nothing was making sense and he was even more surprised when a man began physically threatening her on her father's front porch!! As Chase swoops in to save the day again, he is aware of how dangerous this mission is starting to be. But unlike most of them, this one is a danger to his heart.

Chase and Angela start working together to unravel the mystery surrounding the death of her father. So much doesn't make sense and the more answers they get answered, the more questions start to pop up. During all this, they are also fighting against the growing attraction between the two of them. Chase believes that nothing can ever come of this because of his past and his job and fights against the powerful pull of Angela. Angela is only alive when she is near him. Can they work it out? This book had a lot of action going on and a lot of surprises that popped up. It was a thoroughly enjoyable read and the author has hinted at the possibility of a series. Let's hope so. I'd love to know what happens to Maddie and Cat!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Really good book April 8, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Angela McKenzie is determined to find out everything she can about her father dropping dead on a sidewalk in Boston from a heart attack. Instead she finds herself in the middle of the last classified project her father was working on when he died. What she never expected was to suddenly be in the sights of the FBI, a killer and a terrorist. Now she has to find out the truth if she wants to survive what is happening.

Chase Romero used to be a Navy SEAL but is now an undercover operative when his boss sends him to watch over Angela. Chase is sure that his boss is over reacting until things begin to happen to Angela that makes Chase change his mind in a hurry. Now Chase has to find a way to keep Angela safe while they try to figure exactly what her father was working on at the time of his death.

Finding out what is going on would be a lot easier if the attraction they feel for each other wasn't so strong and compelling. Now as they go from New England to Washington DC to Lake Michigan in a search for the truth they are going to have to reevaluate their lives to see what they thought they always wanted and where they were headed is still what they want of if they have found something very special with each other that is more important than anything else. Chase is also going to have to decide if what he has fond with Angela is enough to go up against her godfather who also happens to be his boss.

This story is full of action and suspense. The twist and turns that this one takes is sure to keep readers on the edge of their seats as they try to figure what is going on and just who are the bad guys and who are the good guys. This is a wonderful debut story that is sure to have readers watching for what comes next from this author. This is one that is definitely worth giving the time to and readers that enjoy action packed romance are sure to love this one.

4.0 out of 5 stars You hooked me :) March 22, 2012

Format:Kindle Edition
I don't know about you but if a book is good, while I am reading it, it is playing out in my head like a movie and I can honestly say I enjoyed the book, Angel on Fire by Jacquie Johnson. The book started off with a bang and just kept going til the last page. The characters were well-written and kept me interested in them. I was rooting for Angela and Chase throughout the entire book, the way they spoke to eachother was honest and believable. When I wanted to know something regarding their lives (past and present), Ms Johnson did not fail to answer that question which allowed my little movie to play and entertain me while I was reading. Chase, Angela, Sean, and all the characters were very credible in how they acted and what they did. I never questioned anything Angela did because if I had put myself in her place, yeah, I most likely would have done the same thing to survive and go on.

The only thing I can see being an issue was the slight hiccups in continuity throughout some of the book. As if she was writing the book quickly before all the great thoughts in her head were gone, and thus, causing some moments of non-clarity for readers. All-in-all, this book was a great read and did not let me down on the action or adventure as they traveled all over the Upper Midwest and Eastern U.S. trying to find their answers before the bad guys found them. And those bad guys definitely lived up to their parts, I even got wrapped up into thinking someone was rotten when they weren't (nicely done Jacquie, you hooked me).

I cannot wait for her next installment, hopefully (dare I ask) with Sean's character (hint, hint, wink, wink, nudge, nudge) - Ms Johnson dangled just enough information about him and his past to make me wait patiently for his story....please?

Thanks - Khriste
