Jordan’s Review: I loved Angel and the Lawman. One of my favorite authors is Linda
Lael Miller and this book reminded me of her westerns. That’s as big a compliment as I
can give. The characters are fresh and utterly enchanting; the hero suitably macho and
mysterious. The story plays out well and with a wonderful plethora of detail that I find
totally absorbing. The ending is superb and totally fits in with the story. I had a couple
of moments where I wondered if there really would be a happy ending or if I was going
to be disappointed. The West comes alive and I got a real feeling for how it must have
been to live in the lawless territory of Oklahoma City. How anyone could resist the pull
of this story and not want to finish it all in one sitting, I have no idea. I certainly couldn’
t. It made for a great afternoon’s read.
Barbara Starmer has a winner in Angel and the Lawman. I’m going to be checking out
any other offerings by her to see what other great treasures are available and I will
certainly be looking for more by Ms. Starmer in the future.

(added by author)The primary antagonist, along with his powerful connections, challenges the marshal and Alexandra with
dangers that reach all the way from Boston and San Francisco to Oklahoma City.
Barbara Starmer weaves a fascinating plot full of suspense, mystery, and treachery that grabs the reader’s
attention. Among the life-threatening happenings, she weaves in a love that blooms like a rose among the
thorns. Her strong heroine and her hero that makes the heart throb make ANGEL AND THE LAWMAN not
only a thrilling suspense story but also a redemptive love story that satisfies the heart.

All my life I wanted to live in the West. In 2007, my husband and I packed our bags, sold our house and moved to Western Montana.
Angel and the LawMan came out of my love of the old West and the courage of the people who lived during that time. I choose the Oklahoma Land Rush of 1895 because of the violence and the tenacity of the honest people who managed to make Oklahoma the state that it is today.
I hope you enjoy Alexandra in this book as she is the woman I always hoped I would have been if I lived in 1895. Marshal James Black is the man I would hope to meet if I lived in this era. I hope you enjoy
Angel and the LawMan as much as I loved writing it.
