"Composer/Arranger extraordinaire ~ Percy Faith",
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Angel of the Morning / Black Magic Woman (Audio CD)
During the late '60s and early '70s Maestro Percy Faith was churning out some of the best releases with top notch arrangements ~ thus enters the album at hand "Angel of the Morning/Black Magic Woman", featuring Faith's Orchestra and Chorus. Each song had an upbeat tone to it, with "DO YOU KNOW THE WAY TO SAN JOSE?" and the beautiful ballad "THIS GUY'S IN LOVE WITH YOU", both tunes from the composing team of Hal David and Burt Bacharach ~ you couldn't go anywhere in those days and not hear this being played on radio or the local jukebox. One of my favorite songs during that period was "MACARTHUR PARK", the great Jimmy Webb tune recorded by Richard Harris, but this song was destined for greater things, just sit back and listen to the strings and solo violin arrangement with the "Percy Faith Touch" that tugs at your heartstrings. Now we have something that only Percy Faith could tackle "BLACK MAGIC WOMAN", composed by Peter Green has all the elements that Mr. Faith was looking for, and what a workout the Faith Orchestra has in store for them, look at the result...pure satisfaction and then some ~ "IF", by David Gates is one of the most beautiful songs ever written, Percy's arrangement comes from the heart and weaves a magic spell over the listener ~ "REZA (RAY-ZA)", once again the Latin flavor that comes to the surface of each album that Mr. Faith records, very stimulating performance ~ "VIVA TIRADO", listen to this cue and visualize a tribal ceremony being performed, has all the elements of an epic adventure ~ "WAVE", the most sort after composer during that decade was Antonio Carlos Jobim and Percy was always there to record his music whenever the time presented itself, and it is here and now ~ gotta love it! Total Time: 70:56 on 22 Tracks ~ Collectables 7488 ~ (1/19/2002)

Beautiful Music At It's Best,
By
This review is from: Angel of the Morning / Black Magic Woman (Audio CD)
I just got mine yesterday and I love it so much I can't quit listening.Angel Of The Morning is from 1968 and is the most beautiful of the two albums. All but 3 songs are are accompined by the chrous on Angel of the morning.Every song on this album is very lush.I've never heard Honey I miss you as lush as it is on this album. Also This Guys In Love With You got a lot of play on beautiful music stations in the 70's and 80's so that makes angel of the morning more valuable to own.The second album Black Magic Woman is from 1971 and is more mellow. All songs on the second album are just orchestrated without the chrous but not as heavily orchestrated as Angel of the morning.Still it has it's moments with the Sun King,If and Wave.It seems like Faith mellowed out inthe 70s but I still liked the second one. The album covers are on the front.Linear notes for nither album wern't included.I recommend this album to any Percy Faith collector.

THE GOOD MUSIC OF PERCY FAITH REMADE,
By A Customer
This review is from: Angel of the Morning / Black Magic Woman (Audio CD)
I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR 22 YEARS FOR A COPY OF PERCY FAITH'S VERSION OF "WAILING OF THE WILLOW". I HEARD IT FIRST AS A THEME SONG FOR A LATE NIGHT NEWS SHOW FOR A TV STATION IN CHICAGO IN THE EARLY 70'S. THEN I HEARD IT AGAIN ON AN FM RADIO STATION IN CHICAGO IN THE EARLY 80'S. AND IV'E BEEN LOOKING FOR A COPY EVER SINCE. I ALSO LOVE PERCY FAITH'S VERSION OF "THE WAVE". THIS HAS TO BE HE BEST INSTRUMENTAL VERSION OF THIS SONG (FRANK SINATRA HAS THE BEST VOCAL VERSION). THANK YOU TO THE PEOPLE WHO REMADE THIS GREAT 1971 ALBUM BY PERCY FAITH.
