PreSchool-Grade 1-This series of simple, rhymed prayers addressed to angels and to God asks for help in everyday life: blessings on family, consolation in times of stress, and guidance in living right. Several prayers of thanksgiving and repentance are also included. The tone is warm and gentle. The full-page, folk-art acrylic paintings depict primarily female angels in brightly colored and patterned robes interacting protectively with children. The effect is stylized and decorative rather than realistic. Although nondenominational, this slim collection will probably be an additional purchase for most collections.

This is a charming little book suitable for all children but particularly those who come from mixed faith backgrounds. It has a genuinely spiritual context without emphasising a particular religion. The illustrations are boldly colored and adults who like pastel water colors may find them garish but my grandchildren loved them.
