3.5 stars,
By LTR "Love to Read" (BC, Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Angel and the Prince (Paperback)
This book was always exciting. I did find the inner turmoil of both characters a little monotonous after a while though. He lusted after her so many times but then changed his mind because he must hate her. She did the same. Every second page was how his blood was on fire or hers was on fire. He blamed her for his son's death and then two seconds later didn't. I found myself reading the same lines over and over again but in different chapters. It was still a good book but definitely not a keeper.

This is absolutely the best romance novel I have read! It is great to see a woman in the warrior's role for a change. I wish more novels were written in the style of this one.

My most beloved rainy day book,

I adore this story -- the characters are so dimensional and developed. There is a poignacy to their scenes that I have not seen duplicated in other romance novels. I have read and re-read this book so many times its pathetic. I recommend this novel to anyone who wants to find out why we read this genre of books. Fan-bloody-tastic!

I loved this book! As a "warrior" myself in the U.S. Navy, I enjoy reading romance books in which the woman plays the role of a warrior. I hope the author will write more novels with this sort of theme. Ryen can certainly hold her own against the mighty "Prince of Darkness", and anyone else who comes along ! Good for her!!

A disclaimer: I'm a *VERY* critcal reader and I'm a feminist. Now that that's been stated, let's get on with the review. Good romance novel. I love the cover. I love that the heroine is a strong, warrior who can hold her own. My only problem with the novel is that she (again, A WARRIOR) goes "to the kitchens!!!" Ugh! Still, the love story is strong. The characters have depth and are well-developed. The author certainly took the time to research the time period...always a plus.

I like to read historical romance books were women aren't always meek and defensless. This is absolutly what I was looking for! Ms.O'Donnell will have you wondering what happens after the end of the story. She should make a sequal. This is definetly a keeper for my book shelf!

O'Donnell, please write another historical romance!,

I absolutely love this book! I have been combing store shelves for months to find another by this author. If the author ever checks this page, I want to beg her to write another historical romance. She captures the time period beautifully and the plot is so unpredictable you will not be able to put it down. Just hope she writes another soon.

This has got to be the coolest book ever written. I have been looking for more like it but I have never been able to find one that even comes close. Laurel O'Donnel should write a sequel to it.

My roomate and I throughly enjoyed this book. The saddest thing I had ever heard was when i came online to order my own copy and saw it was out of print. Ryen and Bryce are both scitilating characters whose exploits are well worth following. Bryce is hot..and their romance is steamy and erotic. I would recomend this book to anyone who is looking for a good read. ( my boyfriend really liked it too)

I enjoyed this book a lot. It was engrossing in a way that most romance novels usually aren't. There was a lot of longing and desire, but if I had one critique of this book it would be that it was longer than it needed to be with a lot of back and forth and he wants her, but no! and she wants him, but betrayal!
It was an engaging read with a super stud of a hero. I did find The Angel to be a tad weepy and weak, which didn't ring true with her characters background. She supposedly commanded an army but what we mostly see her doing is tearing up at the drop of a hat. Overall, I though, I do recommend this book, if you can get it for a fair price. It was one of those that you keep thinking about during the day, excited about returning to their world. |
