This a story of a most compassionate human being's love for one particular animal in his charge. Lobo, and extraordinary beast with a heart, not normally seen in ones lifetime.
Blake, a gifted wordsmith, does Lobo proud, in this memorial of his short but love filled life. Sunk as soon as he saw him and recalling the roller coaster ride of Lobo's companionship, must have made it hard for him to write. Still raw in his memory and pouring it onto the pages must have brought tears to his eyes at times.
Now Lobo truly is an angel with fur, he'll be wagging his tail as he watches you look after the others that still share your life, knowing he'll never be forgotten and always be grateful you picked each other at the shelter.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading "An Angel With Fur". My emotions ranged from laughing, crying and everything in between - and sometimes all at the same time. I'm sure that everyone who reads this book will re-live their own life experiences with their own furry friends. It brought back so many memories for me that I had tucked away and almost forgotten. This book is a true tribute to Lobo. Thank you Russell Blake.

An Angel With Fur is the story of Love! The Love between human and animal, and animal to human. It is also the story of persevering through all odds. The story has elements of both joy and sorrow, but mostly abounding love.
I laughed at the antics of Lobo while he was a puppy and as an older dog feeling good. I cried at the terrible time he had to go through in order to prolong his life!
What a wonderful master , Lobo adopted! Mr Blake was the perfect person to have custody of Lobo. He wrote his Memoir with his heart on his sleeve for all of us to see!
Rest in Peace sweet Lobo. Mr Blake please keep producing your great stories!

I just finished reading 'An Angel With Fur The Story of Lobo the Miracle Dog,' by Russell Blake. (Amazon.com Kindle version, $2.99 ... worth 10 times the cost)

Before reading the book, I read the reviews at Amazon.com; seven 5-stars to date and counting. I'm sure there will be many, many more, and all well deserved!

Being an animal lover myself, I felt that this was a book for me. I found myself reliving, through Blake's words, my own life with "Foxy Lady III," my wire haired fox terrier and loving companion, whom I lost nearly a year ago to date, on Oct. 12, 2010.

Although the breeds are worlds apart, Blake and I share a common bonding: both our dogs peed on our chests at our first meeting. Blake's mention of that incident caused many more memories to burst forth as I read on. I began looking for other similarities and there were many, ranging from squeaky toys to tennis balls, from "testing" to see if plopping on the bed was a "no-no" to name a few.

Mr. Blake's story likely parallels stories that any dog lover can relate to. (I hate the term "dog owner," because, in truth, the human does not own the dog.) The dog invariably owns and controls the human, which, in my case, is as it should be. Dogs are far more intelligent and loving than most humans, thereby deserving the title of "top dog" in a relationship. The "love" comes from the human; the "unconditional love" is a gift from the dog.

Throughout the book I found myself smiling as an event described triggered a similar, if downright not precise episode in Blake's relationship with Lobo that I was able to recall in my relationship with "Lady." One in particular, caused a chuckle: Like Lobo, Lady also greeted the staff at her vet's office with a complimentary brief pee on the floor.

Although we know the ultimate outcome of Lobo's story, it's in the telling of his devilish ways that conveys the impact he had on all who came to know him, especially his owner. I don't know if I could go through the battles and come out unscathed.

What a wonderful story of love and caring . I have loved many animals in my life and know the pain of losing a pet. But like the country song says, I could have missed the pain, but I'd have missed the dance. Our pets live forever in our hearts and memory. Many animals will be waiting for me at the rainbow bridge !!! I recommend this book to all animal lovers .
