Editorial Reviews

Review

Munsch tells a wonderfully whimsical story of a five-year-old girl whose curiosity coaxes her into accidentally flying off with an airplane. (Kitchener-Waterloo Record)

Angela's personality and spirit are captured perfectly in Martchenko's depiction of her. (Canadian Materials) --This text refers to the Library Binding edition.

I bought this one for my niece, because she looks a little like the protagonist and they have similar names. Both my nieces like this one, probably because it's so absurd.

Angela inadvertently, at the age of five, steals an airplane. With help from the tower she manages to land... sorta... well, they say any landing you walk away from is a good landing!

At the end, we're told that she grew up to become an airplane pilot, a fitting career.

The whole scenario, especially the dialog, is absurdly unrealistic, and it has my nieces in stitches every time. After all, if you or I crashed a plane, you can bet our dad would do more than just ask us to promise not to do it again!

I can't recommend this one enough.

Edit: Please note that this edition of the book, the "Annikins" edition, is a specially small version of the book, as explained in the product information.

Cute book on a little girl that likes to push buttons. Always asking what's the problem with pushing a button or one more button. Who doesn't have one of those at home?

I would give this tiny book to any child, to inspire her to shoot for an ambitious, gender-unusual career. Angela is adorable and funny, and the book is a real treat (not at all preachy; just quirky and outrageously wonderful.

We loved to read Munsch books to our children, and Angela's Airplane was one of their favorites. So I thought I'd get a few for my nephew's children. Well it is Angela's Airplane and it is readable but man is it small.

I've been reading Robert Munsch books for 20 years. I have read them to neices, nephews, kids I've mentored, neighbor kids, kids at church, airports, & doctors offices and any place you find a kid. Kids love them as they have a great story, good rhythm and they are funny. "Angela's Airplane is about a little girl whose father get lost from her so she decides to pilot a plane." "Annikins" are approx 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" so they fit in a birthday card or in your purse. You can also buy his books with a 8" x 8" glossey cardboard cover or in hardback. In my opinion, any Robert Munsch books are the best.

I somehow totally missed that this is a super mini book. Its a fun story but it is SO very tiny. I went back and looked at the description and it does if you expand the description state that the book is like 3"x3" but it would be nice if it said Mini-paperback when you are selecting.....
