4.0 out of 5 stars A Side Trip in the Women of the Otherworld series
This novella is for fans of Armstrong's work. We get a glimpse into Eve Levine's world as we see her as a part-time angel and part-time ghost. 3.0 out of 5 stars good read!
I like Kelly Armstrong's books so I read this one on my kindle. It was interesting if you like kelly Armstrongs book and are familir with Eve otherwise you will be lost. I would recommend it, if is cheap and your are caught up. I tend not to spend more than $5 on my kindle unless I love love the author and the series because I go through so many books.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another Enjoyable Read From Armstrong, March 29, 2010

This review is from: Angelic (Hardcover)
I must say that I am a big fan of Kelley Armstrong and try to read everything she sends out into the world. Angelic is a story about Eve Levine, whose book in the Otherworld series, Haunted, I must admit is not among my favourites. This is an incredibly quick read, and quite fun. However, I don't think that it is worth the prices that those who weren't able to get the book in its very limited release are being asked to pay. It's only about one hundred pages and tells us that though Eve may be a bit of a rebel, she is really on the side of the angels (and the Fates). Armstrong's afterlife is very interesting and creative, we were exposed to it in both Industrial Magic and Haunted. Again, if you can find this book at a reasonable price than it is certainly a fun way to spend an afternoon. If you can't it's not the end of the world as it doesn't really add to the series in a real way.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must-read for Eve lovers!, February 23, 2010

This review is from: Angelic (Hardcover)
This is already a collectors item, but the story is well worth the read. It's got a great cover with 4 illustrations inside. The plot is basic, Eve tries to get herself fired from her job, but she takes us on a wild journey doing it. If you can manage to snag yourself a copy, I highly recommend it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Finally available as an ebook, January 7, 2011
By
This review is from: Angelic (Hardcover)
"Angelic" is like the Holy Grail for fans of Kelley Armstrong's Otherworld series. It was released in January of 2010 as a limited release novella. If you didn't order one of these in advance, you were out of luck. They were sold out before the release day. But now, it's available on ebook, so most of us are getting our first look at the story.

It focuses on Eve, the ghost/angel who narrated "Haunted." She is just coming off of a six month stint on angel duty, and expected to spend the next 6 months on the ghostly plane with her man, Kristoff. But the Fates tell her she needs to do one more job, tracking down a djinn problem. Eve is tired of getting jerked around by the powers-that-be. She's always been a rebel, but she does a good job and she wants her due. So she decides to do the job her own way --and even hopes to get "fired" from her job as an angel while she is at it.

I like Eve. She is tough and irreverent. We also get appearances from Kristoff and several of the lesser characters we met in "Haunted." I enjoyed the story and I'm so glad I got the chance to read it. I'm just as glad I'm not one of the folks who spent an exorbitant amount of money to get a copy on ebay. 4 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible!, September 21, 2010
This review is from: Angelic (Hardcover)
Let me start by saying that I did not pay $175+ for this book. I was incredibly lucky and recently managed to get a signed/personalized copy for free, and no I'm not going to tell you how! =)

Well, Kelley has done it again. Another amazing story. Yes, it is short, but she let everyone know that before it went on sale. And if you didn't know from her, the Amazon page tells you straight out that it's only 107 pages and that it's a novella, not a novel. So no one should be complaining about that. And it is expensive, but that is because there were only 2700 copies ever made (2500 of the trade cloth-bound, and 200 leather-bound). So, naturally, this book is in huge demand to her fans, many of whom ordered this book, were told they were getting one, and never actually got it (which, I know first-hand, is insanely maddening). So the price is ridiculous, but some people are obviously willing to pay it. For those of you who care, here's what Kelley herself has said on her site ([...]): "Angelic sold out before release. It can be purchased as an audio book and sometimes pops up second-hand. Please be warned that because it is hard to obtain, second-hand prices can be vastly inflated. Due to the short length, I don't suggest paying more than the cover price ($20) for the cloth-bound edition. If you really want to hear the story, consider audio instead."

All of that being said, there is no reason for anyone who is a fan of the Otherworld series to not like this novella. It's a short story filling in some of the blanks we have about Eve's job as a part-time angel, and has some bits with Kristof, Jaime, and Jeremy as well. It's really just like one of her online short stories, or one of the stories from Tales of the Otherworld, it's just bound on it's own. Chronologically, it is placed between "Living with the Dead", and "Frostbitten", though you can't hardly tell the difference.

Overall, it's just a short story, but it is one of the better ones, in my opinion. Definitely worth the original price of $20, and just as definitely NOT worth $175!!! It's good, but not quite that good, unless you're a collector and must have absolutely every book. But if you can find it cheap, grab it up and give it a try!

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly coveted and it should be!, March 5, 2010

Highly coveted and it should be!

Fantastic novella featuring dark witch/ghost/angel Eve Levine from the Women Of The Otherworld series. Full of action with an element of love and mystery which seems to be the classic equation for the series. It kept me on edge until I got to the end - which I did in one sitting!

In this novella we meet Eve working another job for the Fates. Chaos ensues as Eve trys to decide between what she wants to do and what she should do and whether or not the two are the same.

A must read for any Armstrong (or Eve) fan!

I collect all books from The Women of the Otherworld Series. This is a great collectors book that I had to have. The story is short and sweet. Very quick read. I wouldn't pay hundreds of dollars for it like some people are selling it for on various sites, but it's a gem nonetheless.

4.0 out of 5 stars Novella about Eve, October 2, 2011

I am an Armstrong fan. I was hooked after picking up a hardcover copy of "Bitten" from a bargain table at B&N, and haven't stopped reading her work since. But I don't wait for each release or preorder or anything, so I missed this one in hardcover. If I'd paid $20 originally for it, I would have felt a bit remorseful about it's length-to-price ratio. But I'd never have guessed that it would become such a high demand aftermarket item. I was very glad to see the kindle edition offered at a very reasonable price.

As for storyline, Eve is typically herself - dancing on the edge to get the job done. Like most of us, she's been asked to work overtime and is chafing under the restrictions of the job she's in. You get a foreshadowing of plots among the demons and angels which is playing a larger role in Armstrong's more recent works. Eve contemplating quitting her job after she finishes this task, but she finds there's a lot more than she expected to deal with. But Eve is who she is - willing to bend the rules, but stubborn and a person who is true to her word. Worth reading, especially at the kindle price.
